The sustain comes with the combination of our Runes and items 15% heal from Conqueror, 15% heal from Death's Dance, 15% physical Dmg heal from Elixir of Wrath and Spirit Visage that will multiply everything by 30% and if you go for the resolve version you will also have another 15% from Revitalize making you multiply your total healing from you and your allies by 45%!
Also cause of Yorick insane CC, one of the strongest in the game, you will also make a huge impact in team fighting, this build can be used for splitpushing if you want, but most importantly it will be used to make you the most impactfull champion in the teamfights, your slow with Mourning Mist that will also force the ghouls to hit and damage the target that will instantly apply 4 stacks from Black Cleaver armor reduction effects PLUS the movement speed bonus that will be combined with the bonus movement speed from the Mourning Mist itself while moving towards the target!!
And of course your W Dark Procession that can trap an entire enemy team that wont be able to get out without either hitting 4 times the cage or flash/dash outside from it and that can be also used as ZONE CONTROL to keep them "out of objectives" or even "in the objectives" for example the baron pit or dragon pit and make them be "trapped" inside there while your ghouls, maiden and all of your allies hitting them from safe distance!
With the tools that you got and the combination of runes and items with our build, Yorick will be the champion to offer you the FREE ELO that you want!
Lets get started with the detailed explanation about runes now.
Lets talk about the combinations and why is worth:
We will be playing with Precision + Sorcery (Rune version 1)
or Precision + Resolve (Rune version 2)
Conqueror Extra AD and 15% of your damage as HEAL, this means, while this rune is activated(and it will stay activated by the hits of your Ghouls-ulti) any damage will be done by your Hits-Skills-Ghouls-Ulti will be gained back as HEAL, making you an absolute monster!
Triumph Extra GOLD per kill/assist plus heal! or Overheal no matter which rune you choose the results are GREAT!
Legend: Bloodline 12% Lifesteal, why is this OP? The answer is simple, our build is about SUSTAIN, by playing 3 Doran's Blade we will be having 240 HP, 24 AD and 9% life steal, this means 21% lifesteal just from the rune and these 3 items (with only 900 gold). The perfect combination!
Coup de Grace Extra 8% damage to low health targets
Here you got 3 options:
Nimbus Cloak The combination of the speed you will gain from this rune plus the E + Phage will be INSANE, Nothing will ever hope to get away from you! Super powerful tool to have!
Nullifying Orb A bonus magic shield that scales with bonus AD, making you have better sustain against magic damage, super useful to have, especially if the enemy team got lots of magic damage!
Manaflow Band Bonus mana stacks plus mana regeneration, this rune will help you have better mana sustain and mana control with yorick, after fully stacking it, you will be able to spam your skills non-stop without being afraid about the mana costs!
And the last rune will ALWAYS be one of the strongest runes in the game for our type of build
Transcendence Extra 10% CDR and extra AD for each % for more than 40% CDR!!
To fully understand how this works, our full build will have total CDR of 70%, that means this 30% CDR that normally would go to waste, you will use it as bonus AD, 12 bonus AD per 10% CDR, means for example that Spirit Visage will now give you 12 AD without the item even got this stat!
If you choose the secondary Resolve version then you got some many powerful runes that will help you SUSTAIN MORE and be an ABSOLUTE MONSTER, sorcery is a more utility choice that will help you use stats that you normally would never have, but resolve will help you SURVIVE LONGER:
** Second Wind one of the most powerful runes in the game, that many underestimate, it will give you HP regeneration that scales with your missing HP, that means the bigger the HP difference it is, the bigger the regeneration its going to be.
Revitalize another incredible powerful rune, 5% to 15% bonus heals and SHIELDS from you or your allies, that means that together with Spirit Visage you will have 45% bonus healing, that means you will multiply the heal from Conqueror, Death's Dance, Elixir of Wrath and of course your lifesteal!
No matter which secondary build rune version you will choose, both of them will make you a MONSTER for different reasons!!
**Here is an example of Second Wind regeneration, we will have 4000 TOTAL HP or even more with our BUILD, the moment you are with only 1000 HP left you will have regeneration 12.6HP per second (126 in 10 seconds) this amount, will be multiplied by your Spirit Visage as well by 30% (its a shame that Revitalize is not scales with HP regan a well) that means, from the Second Wind alone and without calculating anything else you will have HP regain of 16.38HP per second just from a single rune!

You will always start with Doran's Blade and Health Pot its the most important item for our Build!!
At your first back you will focus to have 900-1400 Gold, and you will buy 2 more Doran's Blade and 1 Refillable Potion plus either Boots of Speed or Long Sword
Lets talk why this ITEM START is important and why people cant understand its power.
3 Doran's Blade will give you 240 HP, 24 AD and 9% Lifesteal with only 900 gold(plus the 1 from level 1), you cant buy ANY of these stats this cheap and you wont sell them till you start building your 3rd core item that is Death's Dance
So 3 Doran's Blade will give you enough DAMAGE and SUSTAIN (HP-lifesteal) to survive vs ANY kind of enemy, be it a "tank" or "assassin AD/MAGE".
And this is the FULL DETAILED answer that our friend "+aw3s0me" gave about 3 Doran's Blade:
I will add detailed info, why Balori is using 3 Doran's Blade at lvl5 and starts with 1 at lvl1.
Exactly, no guessing, going deep into this section.
Prepare for a long read, but i guess you want to know everything what happens adding Doran's Blade on him.
EHP Calculation & Info
Yorick | Doran's Blade:
EHP generation of Yorick lvl1 with 0 items and 1x Doran's Blade +80hp.
As well as Yorick lvl5 with 0 items and 3x Doran's Blade +240hp.
- All Platforms include the equal EHP amount in Armor stats to compare the worth at all areas related to all units addable withstanding stats.
- Ofc cost and ItemTyp.
Lets create a fictive lvl1 unit okay:
Health: 574 | ADr: 38 | APr: 32
Now incoming 574 damage would not kill this unit.
But the Healthbar show us the health of the unit?
Well the natural given and increasing resistance stats of that unit, reduces the actual incoming damage down.
So lets say at 730 dmg our unit dies.
This 730, is therefor your true actualy health against this DamageTyp.
This is called EHP.
E ffective H ealth P oints
EHP takes your BasicHealth+ ArmorTyps into account to calculate the units true withstanding number against all DamageTyps.
This said, lets go check Yorick
at lvl 1 with 0 items EHP
and Yorick lvl1 with 1x Doran's Blade added health stats, +80hp.

Yorick EHP calculation lvl1:
HP: 580 | ADr: 39 | APr: 32
AgainstAD: 806 EHP <~ True Health
AgainstAP: 766 EHP <~ True Health
Yorick lvl1 +1× Doran's Blade (+80hp):
HP: 660 | ADr: 39 | APr: 32
AgainstAD: 917 EHP <~ True Health
AgainstAP: 871 EHP <~ True Health
AgainstAD: 917 - 806 = +111 EHP not 80!
AgainstAP: 871 - 766 = +105 EHP not 80!
Adding 80 raw health on lvl1 Yorick, actualy increases our withstanding
vs both DmgTyps not by 80 points but by 111 & 105 .
Which is 31 & 25 points more as stated by items and healthbar.
The healthbar is only showing the BasicHealth of a unit.
Not it's true withstanding point.
Only EHP enables to see behind the first wall of numbers to see the truth.
Let's go, check how much Armor and Mress we would need to add, instead raw health, to generate the equal amount of additonal EHP:
HP: 580 | ADr: 39 | APr: 32
AgainstAD: +19,1 Armor to gain +111 EHP.
AgainstAP: +18,1 Mress to gain +105 EHP.
This means, adding on a lvl1 Yorick, +80 BasicHealth, is equal adding instead:
+ 19,1 Armor AND +18,1 Mress
Result 1× Doran's Blade:
+8 ADdmg [Damage]
+3% LifeSteal [StatsREgain]
+80 hp [Sustain/Utility] which is equal adding:
(+19,1 Armor & 18,1 Mress)

Per Item EHP generation:
vsAD: 3 ÷ 372 = +124 EHP , not 111, not 80!
vsAP: 3 ÷ 328 = +109 EHP , not 105, not 80!
Watch again the numbers:
124 > 111 > 80
You see the UPscaling worth of EHP, the longer used on a unit.
SINCE your units BasicHealth and ArmorTyps increased natural over leveling up (×4), each Doran's Blade starts to generate
The stats generation is expotential growing.
↗ UPscaling the longer it is used, and therefor increases it's own worth.
Let's go, check how much Armor and Mress we would need to add, instead *+240 raw health, to generate the equal amount of additonal EHP:*
Yorick lvl 5: HP: 980 | ADr: 55 | APr: 37
AgainstAD: +42 Armor to gain also 372 EHP
AgainstAP: +36,6 Mress to gain also 328 EHP
Result 3× Doran's Blade:
+24 ADdmg [Damage]
+9% LifeSteal [StatsRegain]
+240hp [Sustain/Ultility] which is equal adding:
(+42 Armor & 33,5 Mress)
And this all for 3× 450
Doran's Ring and Blade are Temporary_Items .
Tempo items are never bought.
The invested gold are Rent Fees!!
Temporary Items are made to:
fill slots which would be empty otherwise.
[Remember the golden rule since Dota1: An empty slot is a lost opportunity to add stats/power on a unit! That's the job of Tempo items.]
SINCE we will 100% sell those items at a given point durring the match,
we just currently invest gold and gain later parts from it back!
What are the true costs/rent fee now?
Doran's Blade: 1.350 - 540 = 810 gold truely invested as Rent Fee.
810÷3= 270 gold per Doran's Blade
At match duration 20min, your first bought Doran's Blade truely cost:
per min 13,5 gold . (1,5gold more/min as D'Ring)
If a player can manage to be
1 Minion ahead of the enemy
Per Doran's Blade,
he gains all stats for free.
After clearing all the details related to Doran's Blade,
and why keeping them as long as possible is more then worth
by their expotential ↗ UPscaling EHP generation
vs both DmgTyps as well as adding all needed stats on:
for such a low amount of true invested gold,...
We can by fact tell:
Doran's Items and DarkSeal, are the cheapes and most stats,
providing items for the early game phase and on top UPscaling into midgame.
I hope this should clear any aspects to your questions related to Doran's Blade.
At lvl 1 Yorick's added Doran's Blade generated 111/105 EHP,
can't be further reduced by ArmorPen then 80.
Raw added health, provides an auto blockading vs ArmorPen.
So at max -10 to -25% only possible to reduce the generated EHP.
Compared to ArmorTyps stats added, which can be nulled
by ArmorPen at certain situations.
So Doran's Items add a Armor pen Blockade to uphold
it's own withstanding at minimum +75%.
Why we look at lvl1 and lvl5?
- Those are the keypoints Balori/Players are able to buy those items in general, and see their direct impacting InGame to the unit."
As you just read, there is much more to it than just buying 3 random items. But lets continue with our build!
The next time you will go back you will buy Phage this item will give you AD-HP and movement speed each time YOU or your GHOULS hit any target, this means that you will almost always have bonus movement speed! After that you will finish Black Cleaver
Then you will buy Sheen this will give you MANA, CDR and extra AD-Type damage each time you use your skills after that you will build either Trinity Force or Iceborn Gauntlet
if they have HEAVY AD carries, then go for Iceborn Gauntlet it will gives you SLOW, enough ARMOR and MANA to sustain them and use your skills all game long!
If they have balanced AP-AD type damages then go for Trinity Force, this will add you pretty much every single stat you need, AD-attack speed-HP-MANA and extra bonus AD each time you use your skill
Then you will go for the first part of Death's Dance that is Vampiric Scepter, this will add you AD and 10% Lifesteal this means a total of 10% + 8%(from rune) + 6%(2 Doran's blades) = 24% Lifesteal. Now that the Death's Dance giving heal from all type of damage dealt, its finally the perfect item for our yorick cause Yorick is a champion that doing MIX TYPE DAMAGE, your E and bonus damage from your ulti Eulogy of the Isles doing MAGIC DAMAGE, while your Ghouls, hits and Skills doing PHYSICAL DAMAGE, so to use the full potential of your damage, we need the something that will give us 15% lifesteal from any type of damage(Physical, Magic, True damage).
Then you will build Spirit Visage this item is the next in order cause it will gives you what you need for the next phase of the game, HP, Magic Resist, 10% CDR and 30% BONUS Healing from any type of heal-effects, this means lifesteal and spell vamp as well! So let them try to "kill" you after this item!
After that you will buy as final item Frozen Mallet huge amount of HP, AD and slow with each HIT! By combining it with every other item-skill we talked about above, your enemy will NOT HAVE A CHANCE to escape, the moment you reach him, he will be so much slowed and you will have so much bonus speed from Black Cleaver + Mourning Mist that even if they FLASH you will still reach them once again. Of course they wont be able to fight back, cause to get hit by you plus ghouls and ulti is something you CANT SUSTAIN even if you are a full tank champion Conqueror will do its job and penetrate through any kind of armor or magic resist he may have!
For boots you will buy either Mercury's Treads if they have hard CC and Magic Type Damage or Ninja Tabi for hit-type carries and almost no CC in the enemy team! Of course Mercury's Treads is always more worth!
Always buy Elixir of Wrath, this will add you an EXTRA type of lifesteal from your PHYSICAL damage dealt and will be added to your already INSANE sustain from the Death's Dance + Legend: Bloodline + Last Rites and Spirit Visage!
After finishing our full build, you will be able to 1v2 or 1v3 any kind of champions, no matter HOW MUCH AHEAD they are, your ulti and ghouls at this point count as 2 allies champions, you gaining lifesteal like crazy and you will TEAR APART their HP easily!
and the answer is simple and i will give it to all of you as well.
Im playing always with Flash and Ignite or Exhaust, for the following reason, Teleport is a skill for any of players don't have enough confident in theirselves that they can DESTROY the enemy TOP laner.
Its as simple as that, Teleport can be used to Come back after a fast back or go to other lane and "Help" your team.
The reason all playing with Teleport is cause they want to find the "easy" answer behind the top lane "go help others and exp there", i cant judge them really, but if you really want to say yourself that you actually won the TOP Lane then you need to do it SOLO.
Destroy your enemy not only by killing him but also by making them build TOO MUCH ARMOR/MR that they don't need.
All my tanky enemies building full TANK Items, cant do anything else cause if they wont they will just die from me over and over again.
But by forcing them doing that the BEST WAY to counter them its to simple change lane, send your ADC TOP with your Support or your MID LANER TOP with your Jungle and go BOT 1vs2, after destroying TOP its the time to destroy BOT as well.
Doing something as simple as that you can change the ENTIRE balance of the game. The Full Tank top wont stand a chance vs your carries and their ADC and SUPPORT wont stand a chance vs your damage
I did this countless of times and always winning the game at the end.
TIP: Lots of you will think "but when my team needs me i can teleport there", NO. You dont need to teleport there. You can be there by foot, or if you cant be there continue with the OBJECTIVES, push your lane destroy towers take Dragons with your jungler etc.
Almost every rush TP to help BOT or MID Lane end up by being all DEAD together with you.
Cause when you TP, you suddenly change the entire MAP Phase, you going somewhere where you will be 100% seen and try to either Dodge your skills or Kill you first.
So go by foot, and go from behind them by using the FOR OF WAR.
This is the entire strategy behind what i am always doing.
