Tahm Kench can absorb a lot of incoming damage in lane and in team fights with his Thick Skin. If he activates it at the right time, he can have basically two health bars and be IMPOSSIBLE to kill. His Ultimate Devour is very versatile. It can be used to save an ally, or catch somebody out of position. It is a great tool especially in mid and late game team fights. His Abyssal Dive is very versatile too. It can be used to escape skirmishes, get over walls, look for plays and many other things.

Tahm needs to ensure that he activates his Thick Skin mid-fight. Activating it too late is pointless because the enemy will disengage, and you will waste the shield. With a few games under you belt, you will know when to activate it and this won't be a weakness anymore.

He is very immobile which means he is really easy to chase down even with his Abyssal Dive up. But with my IMMORTAL build this won't be a problem. They won't be able to kill you. You will survive long enough for your teammates to arrive or even 1v5 them alone.

To play Tahm Kench is EASY and FUN. People playing him wrong for a while now. In this guide we will see how to play him with the STRONGEST WAY possible and dominate any kind of enemies easily.
This build is a combination between insanely big DAMAGE and even greater SUSTAIN. To carry you need to have BOTH. To create a build to have the perfect combination needs KNOWLEDGE and this is what we will share today with this build!

Tahm Kench is one of the most completed champions in the game. He got tools that most of champions don't even dream to have, like Slow/Stun and healing with Tongue Lash, Engage and Disengage tool with Abyssal Dive, one of the BIGGEST shield in the game and a great health regeneration with Thick Skin and the ability to safe allies or to pick carries of the enemy team with Devour. Especially his R is something to be AFRAID OF right now, because it can pick up an enemy and throw him into the middle of your team to kill him fast.
But the most important TOOL that Tahm Kench got is his passive An Acquired Taste. The ability to deal as much damage as you want in lane and farm as easily AS HE WANTS. To win a lane is about how much damage you will do to your enemy. With you passive this is easily.

With this build Tahm Kench will have:
160+ AD, 4200+ Health, around 300+ Armor and 250+ Magic Resistance and INSANELY big amount of damage and sustain, because of the combination of items and runes.

There is nothing BETTER than the runes you are about to see right now. And we will explain WHY this combination of runes will make Tahm Kench a MONSTER!

For the IMMORTAL Tahm Kench build you will use these runes for the following reasons:

Grasp of the Undying One of the most powerful runes in the game for champions like Tahm Kench. While using our Immortal build this rune will give you 3 stats: bonus damage with % of your HP. While doing the %HP dmg you will also heal cause of Ravenous Hunter from the damage. % of HP HEAL back and one of the most important stat that most people forgetting is the 5 permanent HP each time you using it!

Shield Bash A super important rune, a MUST TO HAVE for Tahm Kench and one of the reasons that to go for Grasp is the only way. Tt will give you bonus Armor-Mr each time you got a shield PLUS bonus damage that scales with the % of the shield for your next basic attack cause of your Thick Skin you will use Shield Bash very effective. Since you shield is very big, the damage you will deal with your next basic attack is HUGE. It will give you great sustain and damage at the same time!

Second Wind Another monstrous rune, HP REGAIN each time you receiving damage from the enemy that scales with your MISSING HP, people keep underestimate this rune, but cause of this rune and Doran's Shield you will be totally UNSTOPPABLE early, cause of this double regeneration you will have ability to trade with the enemy for AS LONG AS YOU WANT and kill them easily while being Full HP!

Revitalize One of the most BROKEN runes that on certain champions works incredible, Tahm Kench is one of them, 5%-15% BONUS HEALS that together with Spirit Visage you will increase this to 40% and will make you an IMMORTAL MONSTER! It will give you MORE SHIELD and at the same time because of Shield Bash give you more damage!

The secondary runes tree that we will choose will always be DOMINATION and that because we need the Ravenous Hunter and Cheap Shot.

Cheap Shot Extra true damage after your CC that will be activated each time you are using your Tongue Lash because slow/stun = cc! Another must to have rune that will give you TONS of TRUE DAMAGE!

Ravenous Hunter A MUST TO HAVE RUNE, after the recent changes, this rune giving you 11% Total damage to HEAL, that means each time you using your RUNES-SKILLS-ITEMS-HITS to damage your enemies you will receive 11% of the damage dealt as health back, this amount will be MULTIPLIED by 40% cause of Revitalize and Spirit Visage and together with all the runes that we talked about will make you a total MONSTER!


These runes as you saw meant to make Tahm Kench insanely powerful early and EVEN MORE POWERFUL Late game.

Now you understood the combination of runes and skills, its time to move to the secret behind our item choices!!

Lets start with the Items and our Items Strategy (and detailed explanation about WHY we are getting them). I come up with this build after hundreds of different combinations, to create this final build that cant lose vs ANYTHING and ANYONE!

For the Immortal Tahm Kench build we will play with Doran's Ring and a Health Potion as a start. At your first back we will build the following two items, that once you buy them you will be able to overpower any champion against you. These will be Bami's Cinder and Bramble Vest. The stats that you will have from these two will make you a little too OP for them to handle, because of how your Thick Skin works, you will have a shield to activate Shield Bash and apply damage that they wont expect, after getting these two.
Our main focus is to finish our Mythic item Iceborn Gauntlet. This item will give you EVERYTHING that our immortal monsters needs, HP, Armor, Mr, Ability haste, damage burn effect around you and another effect that you will slow the enemy hit. They won't escape you.
Then we will get Thornmail and you will increase your HP, armor even further, plus you will apply more REPEL damage to the attackers that hitting you!

Then our next item will be Spirit Visage to increase your heals-shields by 25% that together with the Revitalize that we will play to be literally IMMORTAL with total bonus heals and shield of 40%!

Our next item is going to be Sterak's Gage. We already got plenty of damage and sustain, but with this is we are going to increase it to the NEXT LEVEL, AD, HP, hp HEAL while fighting and a shield that will be multiplied by 40% and make your enemies to wonder if its going to be possible for you to die while fighting 1v5! Remember, because of Thick Skin you will have a huge shield that will activate Shield Bash and with Sterak's Gage you will be able to activate the effect ONCE AGAIN!!!

For last item we will play with Gargoyle Stoneplate. It is an insanely powerful item, that once you get it in full late game, you will be EVEN MORE POWERFUL, we might not have bonus HP, but we got armor, magic resist, ability haste and two amazing effects. %armor and mr that will stack and increase while fighting and a HUGE shield effect that will let you have better sustain and DAMAGE as well, because Shield Bash will scale with the huge shield from Gargoyle Stoneplate while the shield itself will be increased by 40% from Revitalize and Spirit Visage.

And this might be the most powerful combination of items that exist in this game! Immortality plus insanely big amount of DAMAGE that the more you fight, the harder it will be for your enemies to even survive!

So your FULL Immortal Tahm Kench BUILD will look like this:
