Shen is one of 3 ninjas.One is Akali
and the other one is Kennen.It is indeed interesting team with no AD.Lets hear something about Shen's lore:


There exists an ancient order originating in the Ionian Isles dedicated to the preservation of balance. Order, chaos, light, darkness -- all things must exist in perfect harmony for such is the way of the universe. This order is known as the Kinkou and it employs a triumvirate of shadow warriors to uphold its causes in the world. Shen is one of these shadow warriors, entrusted with the sacred duty of Watching the Stars - exercising judgment untainted by prejudice.

Born to a clan whose members have decorated the ranks of the Kinkou for generations, Shen was trained his entire life to become the Eye of Twilight, and thereupon to dispassionately determine what must be done in the interests of equilibrium. As his final trial to ascend to this position, he was made to attend the Takanu, a ceremony in which his father was tortured before his eyes to test his resolve. Any reaction whatsoever would have resulted in his immediate disqualification, but he never averted his gaze and never blinked, not once. As the Eye of Twilight, Shen must make decisions that would buckle the wills of ordinary men, removing all emotion from the equation. He now works with his fellows Akali and Kennen to enforce the balance of Valoran. This hallowed pursuit has unsurprisingly led the triumvirate to the Fields of Justice.

The Eye of Twilight sees not the despair of its victims, only the elegance of equilibrium.

Those Runes give you next stats(I will list Runes though the stats):
-HP: Greater Seal of Health (5.35*0=48.15) and Greater Quintessence of Health (26*3=78).
Runes for HP will give you 126.15 HP on the start of the game,which will allow you or your ally to score first blood for sure.


-Armor: Greater Mark of Armor (0.91*9=9.18).
Runes for Armor will give you 9.18 Armor on the start of the game,which is good if you are on the same lane as some opponent AD.


-HP regeneration: greater glyph of vigor (0.27*9=2.43).
Runes for HP regeneration will give you 2.43 HP regeneration on the start of the game,which is maybe small,but together with Doran's Shield and Masteries you have 15 HP regeneration.



With all those Runes you will get 126 HP,9.18 Armor and 2.43 HP regeneration.



Sorry if I was a little boring with same terminologies.You will need to spend some IP to buy those Runes.You can always search for Runes tier 2,but I suggest to save IP for Runes tier 3.

For my Masteries I take 0/18/12.
I will explain Masteries but will not add any icons.


Defense:


I took a bit of Armor and Magic Resistance just to have enough points to advance to next level of Defense Masteries.
I took HP per levels to get next level,which will give you +30 HP on the start of the game.I also took Masteries for 5 HP regeneration.
I took Masteries to speed up Shen a bit and to rise his cooldown reduction.


Utility:
I added a bit more energy to Shen just to help him to get on with his Energy-eating abilities,I also improved recall a bit.

I wanted to speed up Shen once more,to help him to fill better his role of tank.

I wanted to raise a bit my gold earn so I don't have to steal kills from my partner.

DO NEVER KILL IF THERE IS AN AD OR AP AROUND(kill only if it is 1 vs.1 ).FED TANK LESS DIES,BUT FED AD CAN SCORE A FEW KILLS ALONE.
