Introduction

Welcome summoner's! If you are reading this then you are looking for a guide to Olaf. (Obviously). My name here on Mobafire is TheDevilzAngel. This is my first guide so any constructive criticisms would be much appreciated. Olaf is a very good top laner. Very strong and aggressive and makes for a good Jungler as well but this will mainly focus on top laning. For what not to do and what to do as Olaf. Now on to the guide. Below are some tips and other important things that could help you while using Olaf. This is a short little beginner's guide to help you get the grasp on Olaf.

Summoner Spells

-I pick Ghost because it is helpful to gank, catch up to enemies and also run away.
-I chose Exhaust because it not only slows enemies to catch up to, or get them away from you, but will also weaken them and reduce damage.

Alternatives
-Flash is also good because it is great for escapes or surprising enemies over a wall.
-Ignite is also good to get that extra damage in a duel or to help secure a kill if you are unwilling to dive the tower.

Tips for the Top Lane

When soloing top as Olaf, know that he is a aggressive laner. If you have the health to spare, (More than 1/4 health) harass the enemy with your E. It does lots of true damage and is great way to scare them away. Your combo that you want to use should be Q>E>W. Only activate your W if you are still in melee range and wish to engage. On your first trip back, you want to buy a ward and some more pots if you have money to spare after other purchases. Usually after a few items on your first back you should have just enough for a ward or two so it shouldn't be too big a deal. It is very important if you are doing good, or pushing the lane a lot. If you are being pushed and you cant seem to push the enemy back, try to harass and last hit minions with your Q, as it has a longer range than your E.
(REMEMBER TO ALWAYS LAST HIT. MANY PEOPLE FORGET THIS AND THEN WONDER WHY THEY CAN'T BUY MANY ITEMS)

The reason for this is to wittle them down slowly and to stay safe while still last hitting. If you are ganked and have a slow or stun on you, USE YOUR ULT. It is very useful to get you out of sticky situations. Also, remember that exhaust will not only slow your enemy, but reduce their damage and thanks to the mastery perk, reduce their armor as well. So use it to put the odds of a close duel in your favor. Ghost, will help you run away. But you can use it to catch up to enemies who are out of range of your slows. Once you get your Phage and your Vampiric Scepter, Don't be afraid to go balls out on the enemy and try to melt them with your combo. Remember that your attack speed goes up the less health you have. And with life steal, and your W this should be able to catch your enemies off gaurd in a duel when they think they've won. This should be all for Laning.

The Mid and Late Game

During mid and late game team fights, your job is to try and eliminate the AD Carry and any other squishies that are doing damage. Such as the AP caster. After that, focus the next person doing damage that may be tanky or just rough'em up to make it easy for your team to clean house.

If you take down the enemy top tower early in the game, Push the lane as hard as you can and then roam to other lanes. While roaming and ganking, remember to keep your eye on your map. If the enemy minions start pushing back, or the enemy champion is advancing on your tower, try to head up there while pinging to catch the junglers attention, if they are nearby. If you are roaming, try warding around the map and buy an oracle's elixir if you are not dying and have money to spare. This will allow you to ward around the map at major buffs, gank routes, Baron and Dragon, while also taking down enemy wards to lower their map awareness. Ward coverage should be at these major areas:

Late game, the support should start doing this more and you should be hurting the enemy team more. Lastly, if your team is retreating from a team fight or the enemy is retreating, make sure to use your Randuin's Omen on as many enemies as possible to either ensure your team and you get away, or secure some kills for your team.

Staying Safe

You are quite bulky and should be taking some of the damage for your team, but don't be a maniac. If your health is getting low, get out of there. Even if you have good life steal and your passive makes you're attack speed higher when low, it doesn't mean you can win a 3v1. Also, what you want to do is always wait for your team to initiate. Never just charge in first unless the rest of your team is unfit to initiate. If you must be the first one in to the fight, you should activate your ult and charge in so that you don't get shut down by stuns, snares, slows, or blinds. And remember to focus the AD carry, AP caster and other squishies that do damage. Also as a reminder:
(I can't stress that enough. Many people get mad because they get ganked a lot. And to stay safe you need your little green and pink angels)

Thank You!

As I said this is my first guide and any constructive criticisms would be much appreciated. I will try to make more builds and if there is any specific champion you would like me to do a build/guide for, just ask and I will try to do it as soon as I have time. Good luck playing Olaf! The Berserker. Have fun on the Fields of Justice Summoners!
