Introduction

This is my first Build/Guide published on MOBAFire. I main Olaf and Garen, so I know a thing or two about Damage and Tanking. But with this Build, you focus Damage. A LOT of Damage. If you want more Builds by me, then vote for this! *Update 4/20/12* I've changed the Runes and one item in this Build, i've decided to replace Infinity Edge for a Maw of Malmortius, because this new item is actually very good with Olaf, the Magic Resist will help his surviving against those pesky AP Casters. As well as give pretty good Damage for a Magic Resist item. As for the Runes, I've switched my Armor Penetration Marks for Flat Physical Damage Marks, and changed my Quintessences to Health to make up for the recent nerf to Atma's Impaler. The Marks should make up for the missing AD from the Quintessences as close as possible. Something everyone may want to know. At some point, this Build was Number 6 in the Top Ten Olaf Builds. But then the trolls decided to Strike, now this is out of the list. If you think this build DOES belong in the Top 10. Please, vote up. Thank you

Pros / Cons

Pros with this Guide: You'll be doing a lot of Damage and taking a bit of Damage, also you'll be quick a help with saving your Teammates
Cons with this Guide: You don't focus Life steal much, so your Vicious Strikes may not do that much. And you don't build a lot of Armor, so you're no Tank

The Build

In the beginning you just start with a Doran's Blade, bit basic I know, but it helps. As the game gets farther, I recommend selling the Doran's Blade when you get to Bloodthirster, probably at the Frozen Mallet if you're underfed and having trouble getting the Gold for it.

Farming

Farming with Olaf is actually quite easy. Just use your Undertow to take Minions at a distance and also kill a group of them a lot easier. Make sure aim it to where you will hit them in a line, or your Farm will be took by your Lane Partner if you're not soloing.

Soloing

Everybody knows that Olaf is a very destructive Solo Top Champion. After many games of Solo top, i've concluded that even in 2 v. 1 games as Solo Top, you can a very mean bully. Follow the exact same build, no changes. Be a bit cautious at times, but other than that, it'll be rare for you to turret hug, meaning that you'd usually be at their turret, just harassing them with Undertow and just beating on them whenever they come close. Tanking their damage as well. Be very weary for when you're fighting another Solo top, you can bully a lot more. But Ganks will be very common if you bully too much. So be prepared at any time, Buy Wards (Preferably Vision Ward if needed).

Beginning game

At the beginning of the game, you get Undertow for two reasons. One. To zone your enemies from the Minions to make sure they're underfed. and Two. To harass who ever you're going against, especially Melees this is useful. If you have known Mana Issues, then you can switch a Summoner Spell (Preferably Ignite) for Clarity so you don't run into this problem. Also, if you're fast enough to get to your Lane before your Enemies, hide in THEIR Brush, and when they get close, destroy them, make sure you use your Undertow to slow their escape and lessen the chance of them surviving. Keep hiding in the Brush during most of the Laning Phase. Basically play like a Demacian

When in fights

At around Mid to End game, when the fights start to happen. You should be leveled enough to not run out of Mana while in a fight. When you are included in a fight or you initiate a fight. Use your Undertow first. So when you start to wail on them, it's harder for them to get away. Once you hit them, just go in and hit with Basic Attacks and your Reckless Swing to do quite a bit of damage. Make sure you pick up your Axe after you throw it! This is important to kill. One the slow wears off of them, your Undertow should have Cooled down if you picked up the Axe while hitting your enemy, throw it again and repeat the process. Most of the time you should be able to take them down with a third Undertow if they have low enough Health. If you are about to die, use your Vicious Strikes to stay in long enough to kill them (Hopefully)

Team Fights

If a Team Fight starts and you're in it, you need to focus the person with the lowest Health, start off by using your Undertow on them, hopefully it'll kill them instantly if they have low enough Health, if this happens, then jump in and hit the next guy with the lowest Health, just pick off the ones with the lowest Health, unless you KNOW you can kill the guy with the highest Health, in that case. Use your Undertow and Reckless Swing on him repeatedly. Make sure to use your Tough It Out in case you're focused, which happens a lot.

Team Work

Part of your job, is to save your Teammates in need. When your Teammate is close to dying and is being chased, if you've got time, run around so you take their Chaser from the front, if you can't do this, then just hit them from behind with your Undertow to slow them and help your Teammate escape, at this point, you'll have Initiated, so you either have to kill them, or get away with Undertow and Ragnarok. I recommend fighting to kill, since you can survive long if you've gotten far in your Build. Any time a Teammate is in need, your Undertow is the most important thing to have, so they can escape, but if it's a Ranged they're being chased by, then there's probably no hope for them, but it's still a potential kill for you, so even if your Teammate dies, you still can fight to kill.

When Pushing

If you've got your Warmog's Armor and Frozen Mallet. You are to go first unless there is someone who is just a straight Tank, if there's not, you have to go in first and take the hits for the Squishies or the people who can't take many hits. Don't try to Tank the turret unless you know for a fact you're not going to be attacked by the Enemy team. In that case, Tank as much as possible, run when you're close to dying, use your Tough It Out (THIS IS IMPORTANT!) and heal up from the Minions near by. If you still don't have enough Health after that, then you need to Recall, then repeat

In the Enemies' Base

You've made it into the Enemies' Base. Great work, but this is where things might get hard. If the other team is powerful enough, they can focus you and take you down. So you CANNOT go in by yourself, if your team is attacked, you have to try and take as much hits as possible without dying. More than likely the other team will use all they've got on you, so you need to use your Ragnarok to escape when you're close to Death and make sure they can't Stun, Slow, etc. when you're going. Most of the time you can take the Enemies' Base with one try. But if that's not the case, then just farm a bit, and try again later. Or you could take a risk and do it twice in a row. Try not to die, you don't want the Enemy Team to take it back and win. If you've done good, at this point you should be 18 and you should've been able to Farm your Warmog's Armor enough to have over 4,000 Health. In this case, you are to be considered the Tank, unless you have someone else who is building Tanky, in that case, you are to be considered a Carry
