Introduction

So this is a revamp of a build I posted a while ago. The orignal build utilized two philosopher stones in the begining, however Since Riot nerfed the stones regen and passive stacking I had to redevelope this build's early game.

THIS BUILD IS NOT PURE AP "ZOMG I'M SO SQUISHY"

This build is meant for consistent poke/survival/damage.

Let me put it this way. If you could rate builds from 0-5 in the categories of: DAMAGE, SURVIVABILITY, AURAS/ITEM CC, FARM, and DIFFICULTY(meaning how easy it is to carry idiots on your team, higher difficulty=harder to carry)

most AP builds would look like this
early mid late
-DAMAGE:3 4 5
-SURVIV:2 2 2
-AURA/I:0 0 1
-FARM :2 5 5
-DIFFIC:5 5 5

My build looks like this
early mid late
-DAMAGE:3 3 5
-SURVIV:3 4 5
-AURA/I:0 0 2
-FARM :1 5 5
-DIFFIC:4 4 3

EDIT: I have since revised this guide to contain 3 builds

Build#1: Focuses on a hybrid of support damage and survivability
Build#2: Another hybrid but this time focusing more on late game tanking
Build#3: This is an AP nuke build that still reserves a lot of defense due to health stacking

I personally prefer build #1 in most cases, but you need to change your style of play depending on what your team needs in the current game.

THIS GUIDE WAS BUILT REFERRING TO BUILD #1. I DO NOT WANT TO REWRITE IT ALL SIMPLY BECAUSE I AMDE OTHER BUILDS, so please do not get mad at me for not telling you how to use the tankier build or the more damage focused one.

Pros / Cons

PROS:
-Once you hit mid game you will pretty much never have another mana problem
-**** ton of armor, you can literally tank turrets late game
-decent MR/Health, you will not get annie burst or ashe PWNT
-High Movement Speed compared to other orianna builds
-Still has around 300-400 AP late game before even starting your lichbane
-**** TON OF MANA. No joke, like 4k mana near end.
-Maxed CDR
-Can farm entire creep waves starting mid game
-YOUR BALL CAN FACE CHECK BUSHES FOR YOU

CONS:
-You don't super nuke people. You just don't.
-Your harass is not super awesome until like lvl 5/6/7, more focus on farm
-A little mana hungry early game until you get your philo stone/lvl 7^8^9
-(this is why your harass does not do so well until mid game)
-EASILY BURSTABLE EARLY GAME, just because you are the **** late game does not make you Garen
-(dorans ring is a good idea if you think you are gona get burst)
-....yah can't really think of anything else atm. will update.

Runes

Marks of Insight- HERP DERP DAMAGE DERP

Seals of Clarity- You need to stop worrying about your mana as fast as possible. I choose to use these ones over the flat M/5 because the flat M/5 is outclassed by these at lvl 6/7, which is when you want to start spamming your skills for farm and such.

Glyphs of Shielding-BEST GLYPHS I HAVE EVER BOUGHT, EVER. This ends up giving you like 24 MR or something like that. this means you do not have to buy an extra MR item to reach that sweet spot of 150ish MR. This means you can buy more HP or more damage. The glyph versions of HP and damage suck. BADLY.
*Another glyph you can consider is flat CDR glyphs. This in combination with a blue elixir will max your CDR WITHOUT having to buy CDR boots.

Quintessences of Swiftness-People say Orianna is slow. That is because they do not use these+the speed mastery. With both of those you have an extra 20ish MS right off the bat, that gets better the more stuff you buy. Not to mention it amplifies her W which makes you super fast

Items

every time you see
/
\
the items in between are typically all bought at the same time

EARLY GAME ITEMS:
/Meki pendant-derp mana derp
\health pots: 400 HP in bottles(I choose pots/mana regen if I do not fear being burst instantly)

/lvl 1 boots-your feet get cold when you don't wear anything
\Pilosopher Stone-mana regen health regen annnnnnnnd GOLD/5!!!! WOOOOOOO :D

/Tear of the goddess-start building that mana ASAP
\Sorcerers Boots-more mana conservative than CDR boots early game(more burst too)

<Blasting wand-At this point you are starting to not need mana, but some extra damage for farming would be great

MID GAME ITEMS:
/Catalyst the Protector-Beef is nice, get some
\Rod of Ages-Health, Mana, AP, everything you need (you might not be able to afford both in one go so dont worry about it if you cant, just save up to get it ASAP)

<Archangel Staff-SUPER AP BOOST. This is what gives you th ebulk of your AP. Also super M/5

<Glacial Shroud- This is what give syou the bulk fo your CDR and armor. LIKE A BAOSSS!

LATE GAME ITEMS:
<Negatron Cloak-MR is nice yes

<Frozen Heart- More CDR and SUPER ARMOR, also extremely useful aura

<Abyssal Scepter- More AP and: LESS MR FOR EVERYTHING AROUND YOU (auras FTW)

/Oracle's elixir- at this point you should be dead locked and the ability to see wards or invisible enemies WILL win/lose the game
\BLUE ELIXIR-CDR and AP, it really does help

<Lichbane- typically you will never get this far, but if you do, you want to save your 6th slot until you can buy this entire item rather than it's parts(that way you have room for wards and such)

IF YOU ARE HAVING SERIOUS ISSUES WITH ENEMY CC BUY MERC TREADS. EVEN IF YOU LOSE OUT ON A BIT OF DAMAGE, YOU GAIN MUCH MORE DEFENCE AND RESISTANCE TO CC

IF THE ENEMY TEAM IS SUPER DURABLE, BUY WILL OF THE ANCIENTS OR HEXTECH GUNBLADE SO YOU CAN STAND IN FRONT OF THEM AND TROLL THEM WITH YOUR HEALTH GAIN.

Skill Sequence

This is fairly straight forward:

Grab (Q) first because it lets you face-check bushes/last hit/do anything

Grab (W) second because it seves decent harass and helps to slow/escape

Grab (E) last because it has longer CD than Q and the shield is not super awesome until you have a team to use it on

Of course grab (R) whenevr you can because it does LOL damage and is nice CC

You may ask: "Why Q over W? Doesn't W do more damage/have better CC?"

My answer to this is: "DERP, Q cooldown goes down to 2 seconds, DERP." Yah. Doing as much damage as W every hit and a half

Summoner Spells

I grab teleport and flash.

I know not a lot of people like teleport. I didn't like it either for the longest time. Then I realized I could pretty much lane indefinitely with it as long as I paced myself. I also realized I could back-door randomly or push a lane while there is a stale-mate going on in mid. It basically allows you to PUSH NON-STOP. If your team neds you, simply Teleport to wherever.

Flash is a no brainer. It saves your life every game, no joke.

Now if you decided you needed a different summoner spell, replace teleport, because it isn't so much as needed as it is a luxury.

Possible options include:

Ghost-they gonna have a hard time touching you

Ignite-Kills any regen based champ/adds much needed early game damage for that kill

Exhaust-If the enemy team is full of "DERP AD IMA SHOOT YOU!" champs.

Clairvoyance-If your team has a lot of long range ult type of champs(ie:lux, noc, ashe, pantheon)

Smite-OK, not the best choice, but if you feel confident in your skills with just flash why not help your jungler out a bit or make sure that you always secure Drag/Baron kill

Ranked Play

This build works great in ranked because it is so durable and does not rely on always having blue buff.

YOUR ROLE IN RANKED WITH THIS BUILD IS

SUPPORT/CONSISTENT RANGED DAMAGE

If your team needs a nuke simply buy Morello's Tome/Rabadon's instead of Abyssal and Frozen Heart. Or go with a better nuke champion like Leblanc or annie <,<

You ARE primarily support, that is what all your skills are geared for. Your job is to poke the **** out of the enemy team and disrupt team fights while spamming your shield onto your squishies. If your team needs more of a tank, buy ryali's instead of Lichbane. Or choose a tank <,<

Either way no matter how you build her she is still mainly a disruptive support. Don't try to be what you aren't.

ALSO: IN RANKED PLAY, BUY WARDS OFTEN OFTEN OFTEN. wards win games. I am not gonna tell you where to place them or which ones to buy, there are plenty of other guides that will tell you, look them up.

DO NOT LANE SOLO AGAINST TWO ENEMIES. THIS WILL ONLY RESULT IN THE ENEMIES TOWER DIVING YOU/KILLING YOU MULTIPLE TIMES. THIS BUILD IS MEANT FOR 1v1 AND 2v2. NOT 1v2.

Also late game you WANT to get into the middle of the fights, you are rather beefy and the more you auto attack the more damage you deal(passive scales auto attacks with AP), so don't be a *****, get in there and be a meat shield for your damage dealers.

Creeping / Jungling

You don't jungle. Just don't. If you are lvl 9+ and your teams are just stuck farming or such feel free to randomly take jungle creeps to piss off your jungler. It is fun to troll :D (/sarcasm).

THE MAIN PART OF JUNGLING/CREEPING YOU WILL BE INVOLVED IN IS THE THEFT OF BUFFS/DRAG.
Simply use your Q over the wall to chekc if an enemy is grabbing a buff. If not see if your jungler is close by so you can help him/her take it. IF the enemy IS taking the buff, judge their damage out put and hit the buff with a Q+W if you do not believe you can take the enemy. If the enemy taking the buff has smite, don't even bother with this early game xD

ALSO, throw your ball into nearby bushes to act as a temporary ward to prevent the enemy from killing you or your teammates. An example of this is the lvl 1 teamfight over your jungler's blue buff. By simply throwing your ball into a bush you can save yourself and your jungler from that 5 man gank that was gonna happen.

Farming

This really isnt that hard. Basically from lvls 1-6 just try to last hit with autoattacks. If you think you are going to miss one, simply use your (Q) to last hit it.

Once you hit lvl 7 you should start being able to nuke the caster minions at the back of each wave. To do this shoot your (Q) toward them and follow up wuth your (W). if they live simply use your Q again or auto attack them to death. At around lvl 11/12/13 you should be able to nuke the shield minions at the front. If they live sompy Q again or auto attack. Once you hit lvl 9 you should be fairly well built and won't have to worry about mana.

Moral of the story is, to farm use your (Q) followed up by you (W). MAKE SURE WHEN YOU USE YOUR Q YOU THROW IT JUST BEHIND THE MINIONS (this does not work as well for champions because it gves them the chance to dodge your (W) ). This allows you to follow up with you (E) to finish them off if you only need a bit of extra damage.

Team Work

As stated earlier your job is to poke/support.

To poke you:
-USE YOUR (Q) TO HIT ENEMY/ENEMIES
-IF YOU HIT ENEMY/ENEMIES QUICKLY FOLLOW UP WITH YOUR (W)
That is all you need to do to poke

To support you:
-USE YOUR (E) ON ANY ALLY RECIEVING THE MAJORITY OF ENEMY DAMAGE
-IF IN RETREAT THROW YOUR BALL ON THE PERSON MOST LIKELY TO DIE/CLOSEST TO THE ENEMY AND USE (W)
-IF YOUR INITIATOR IS A MELEE(aka. xin zhao etc.)(E) THEM AND THEN IMMIDEATELY (W) THEM.
-LATE GAME YOU ARE BEEFIER THAN YOU APPEAR. GET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIGHT AND PUT THOSE AURAS TO WORK

In addition You can also initiate by use of your ult. To do this you:
-USE YOUR (Q) INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE ENEMY SQUISHIES/3+PEOPLE
-FOLLOW UP IMMIDEATELY WITH YOUR (R)
-AFTERWARDS IMMIDEATELY USE YOUR (W) TO SLOW THEM ALL
this combo effectively throws the enemy team into chaos and typically destroys anywhere between 25-50% of an enemies health(even beefy guys)

If one of your teammates is an idiot and gets caught by the entire enemy team DO NOT GO HELP HIM UNLESS HE IS YOUR TANK. It will only result in both you and him dieing rather than just him. If he is your tank, then make sure the rest of your team is on board with going in and slaughtering the enemies.

DO NOT JUST SPAM YOUR SHIELD ON YOURSELF. YOU ARE NOT THE SQUISHY LATE GAME AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO STAY ALIVE AS MUCH AS YOUR DPS DOES.

Unique Skills

This build pretty much turns you into a realy beefy consistent damager-aka. an off tank. In addition because your abilities are geared toward support you become an EXTREMELY DURABLE TOP TIER SUPPORT OFF TANK. Most other builds try to gear Orianna as a Burst mage, which she simply is not. This build is pretty much unique in the respect that most support are squishy and deal little damage. This one Deals pretty amazing damage considering you do nnot build straight AP, while making yourself hard to kill at the same time.

This build offers 2 auras that debilitate the enemy team, without having you sacrifice damage or durability in the process.

This build is also much more flexible against all sorts of enemy tem compositions. Straight AP simply does not work against TEAM SUPER BEEFY CROWD CONTROL. Learn to build according to your needs, just because you CAN build super damage, doesn't mean you should.

Summary

In summation: Super Beefy. Decent Damage. Easier to carry a team. Can semi-tank. Can support LIKE A BAOSS! Farms well. Hard to catch.

You are not a nuke.

You are not a jungler.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FOLLOW THIS BUILD EXACTLY. USE YOUR BRAIN. IF YOU THINK A CERTAIN ITEM WOULD BE BETTER FOR YOUR SITUATION, THEN IT PROBABLY WILL BE BETTER (unless of course you are a complete idiot, in which case I reccomend you follow the guide and hope to god you don't fight smart people)

YOU ARE SQUISHY EARLY GAME. IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE FIGHTING A LOT OF EARLY BURST(aka jax, ashe, urgot, etc.), BUY A DORANS RING FIRST SO THAT YOU DONT GET INSTANT BURST AND GIVE UP A KILL. This is one of those moments where teleport is OP, just survive long enough for 800 gold, go back and buy philo stone then teleport back to lane, and you will have decent health and great health regen without letting them eat half your tower health while you had to go back. After that it will not be as hard to lane against them, and you can still pull off many last hits.

Late game you are beefier than you appaear. Do not be afraid to get into the middle of a team fight, I guarentee it will net your team a kill/troll the enemy hard.
