Alistar
You die the second alistar uses his combo on you, try to keep the wave close to your tower when against alistar, so he cant combo you.
Thresh
Thresh is by far the best support with kalista. You have an insane escape tool if you ult thresh away and he lanterns you with him.
You have a lot of all in potential with his hook, flay, ult and your ult. You mostly wanna ult thresh to get him into the fight.

Champion Build Guide
Rend only gives it mana cost back at higher levels, so in early lane don't last hit with rend, it will make you go oom very fast. You can last hit with rend at lvl 8 without it taking up all of your mana.
You can queue rend, with your auto and Q. meaning if you auto/Q and rend immediately after, the auto/Q will also rend as it hits the target. This can be very useful if the target is out of rend range when throwing Q. You can Q -> insta rend, and the spear will automatically rend if you hit the Q (you need spears in a target that is in rend range for this to work).
Dont be afraid to rend without killing someone in a teamfight. you're usually not the main source of damage in your team, so the AoE slow from hurricane spears is very much worth it.
There is no real way to know how much damage rend will do, you just have to play a lot and get a feel for it.
(video on rend use coming soon)
PIERCE(Q)
You can use Q to jump over a lot of walls, without having an enemy to auto attacking. You jump over certain spots in both dragon and baron pit, and a lot of walls in the jungle in generel.
(video coming soon)
SENTINEL(W)
The active use of W is very bad, enemy team can see your ghost on the mini map even without vision on it. This makes it very easy to path around or to just go and kill it. You used to be able to bug it into the dragon, giving you perma vision on it, but they fixed that, making the W close to useless.
The passive on W is very good though. You are able to last hit under tower without rend, if your support knows how to help you.
FATE'S CALL(R)
Depending on your supports pick, you use your ult differently. If your support is a tank you usually wanna ult as an engage. examples of this could be alistar, thresh, leona or braum. Ofc if they're in a dying situation and you have ult ready. You should use it to save them. It is best to use as an engage tool though.
When playing with a squishy support, that being nami, soraka, lulu etc. most of the time you wanna ult as a peel tool for the support. Save the ult for when your support gets hit by CC or gets bursted. In some situations you can use it as an engage, when you can catch someone off guard or during a rotation.
AUTO ATTACK TIPS
Kalistas auto attack cannot be cancels, only but stuns ofc. Meaning if you start an auto, you HAVE to finish the animation before being able to move. This can both be good and bad. If someone tries to flash out of your auto range, but you've started the animation, they're gonna get hit no matter the distance.
If you start an auto, and a skill shot is coming your way, you will most likely get hit, if your AS is low.
If you lose vision of the target, unlike every other champion in the game, kalistas auto wont go thorugh, meaning if they walk/flash into a bush, your auto will miss. (make sure to ward bushes near you while in the attack animation if they're about to walk out of vision).
Early/mid/late game
Kalista is one of the strongest early game champions, with very high damage, cc and kill potential. If you have an early lead, the mid game will be pretty good. You'll be able to duel or fight enemy team a lot, and should look to extend your lead even further. If you do not have a lead early however, you should look for picks with your ult or vision control. In the late game kalista falls off very fast though, and if you get to late game you better pray on having a decent late game team.
DONT ALWAYS JUMP!
Jumping while attacking slows your attack speed. Without Lethal tempo(which you only go agaisnt tank heavy teams, meaning not often), you cant reach higher attack speed than 1.8 while jumping. meaning if you have 1.8 or more attack speed, you should try to stand still whenever you can, to deal the most amount of damage. This should be done when hitting towers or tanks.
