"Yes, good sir, you could build a tanky-ish Tristana. But why? Why would you do that?"

Because, my friends, sometimes it's fun to let go of your hatred and just **** the meta.

THE ORIGINS
This build was inspired by a year-old video created by Youtube user ethereal311 (who also made the Tankplank! video that made me fall in love with him. The Champion, not the person. Dude.) that was orginally named "Jagdpanzer Tristana - Silver Division", but renamed because people didn't get the german title.

This is NOT a Tanktana build, it's an off-tank-sustain-bruiser-ish build, created solely for the purpose of branching out and creating something that is niche, but viable. A build that doesn't require you to loose the game and ruin it for your teammates - because let's be honest, that's what happens most of the time when you try something new. People get mad at you for not building the "right" items, taking the "wrong" masteries/runes and report you afterwards for not playing your champion right.
This build aims to provide you with a somewhat tanky, sustainable Tristana that is not focused on burst, but on pushing the lanes and destroying towers (something Trist excels at) as well as staying alive.

There are things this build can do and things it can't, just like every other one. And just like with Tankplank, you sacrifice Damage for survivability, making you less of a threat in a direct fight - until you get going!

CONS
- low crit, therefore low burst damage
- can't replace a full-tank toplane, only pick if support/jungle is tanky

Eyebrows will rise when you lock in a Tristana in toplane with those runes, so it's your job to prove to your team that your build is viable and you know what you're doing.
Here are some rules on how to win the lane:

1. Healthy amounts of poke and farm
You don't want your lane opponent to get any ideas just because you are Tristana - show them who's the boss. Poke them, but don't poke too much. Keep them half-life if you can. Most melee champs shouldn't be a problem. If they try anything, you can always get out with Rocket Jump.
Also, don't push the lane too hard - at least not until the tower looses it's damage reduction. Keep the action in the middle where your jungler can engage and where you can back off in time if you are ganked yourself.

2. Make sure to stay "on top"
Only go back to buy items when the lane is pushed out and the enemy jungler can't come to push back until you return. Until you get your core items, you are squishy enough to be towerdived, so you can't risk loosing it.
--> Ward tri brush/river brush before pushing and have your W ready to get out.
--> Take advantage of enemy mid/bot ganks - he can't come top when he's busy ganking another lane!

3. Adapt your build and know your enemy
Get Cutlass first and then Recurve Bow. BotRK is the core of your core items.
The first three items will be the hardest to get since you won't have the usual damage spike from BF Sword / IE. The laning phase is the most important for this build because you need to be useful when you reach mid-game - customisation through magic resist, more life steal/hp only comes after you got your three core items.

Once the teamfights start, you need to adapt to the rest of the enemy team. Try to get your Bloodline stacks (for example 100 cs and 5 kills) to get that juicy life steal.
Focus on objectives like towers and drake, get Herald if your jungler is kind enough to give it to you. If you played your cards well during laning phase, the enemy top tower should be down and yours still standing. Do the same with mid and bottom, roam and push where you can while making sure you don't leave your own towers vulnerable.
