Abilities

Berserker Rage
1% attack speed for each 1% missing health
One of my main reasons for laning Olaf staying around 75% health gives you a boosted 25% Attack speed, this advantage is also what gives Olaf his superior dueling capabilities.

Undertow
Throw your axe doing physical damage and a slowing effect.
Taking this first give Olaf a much needed poke in early game laning, along with a decent slow to take down running champs. I level this last as it is not a high damage output for Olaf compared to his other abilities.

Tough It Out
Added damage based on 1% of max health and Amazing Lifesteal and spell Vamp
Olafs Lane sustain come from this, Tough It Out is low mana cost and high on the rewards, when dueling you want to keep this up as much as possible. It also offsets the health use of Reckless Swing

Reckless Swing
100/160/220/280/340 True Damage to a single target in melee range.
Olaf's Bread and Butter, find a ap carry or ranged ad carry and nuke their faces in. on a low cooldown but requiring health to use. (not a problem with this builds lifesteal and high np pool.) This is what will win you duels and help your team win games. When using this try to make sure you are getting health back from either your base Lifesteal or Tough It Out

Ragnarok
CC Immunity and Added Armor and Magic Resistance
Now there has been a change to Olaf's Ultimate, Ragnarok, the 10% reduced damage was replaces with 60 armor and magic resist. Along with passive armor pen of 10/20/30% per rank makes it a very useful Ultimate. Now to the best part of Olaf's Ultimate, the CC immunity, it will break any and all CC in the game at the moment (as far as I am aware) and render you immune to it for 6 seconds. Fiddles Beware

Skill Sequence

The first thing you may notice with this build is the focus on Reckless Swing, I believe that Reckless Swing is an amazing ability for a Duelist like Olaf and sets him above par for the title.

My skill priority is as followed
An early poke ( Undertow)
Main damage output ( Reckless Swing)
Sustained Damage ( Tough It Out)

And of course our Ultimate Ragnarok, this is what can make or break you as Olaf, proper timing is needed to make full use of Olafs Ragnarok Let us take the following situation.
Olaf vs Alistar
Alistar has more CC (crowd control) than poor Olaf, so we can either use our Ultimate as a starter or save it to maintain damage at lower health due to our passive Berserker Rage.
Now this is where situational awareness comes into play, are there other teammates (friend or foe) on the way? if yes and the team is friendly than i would choose to save Ragnarok but if the incoming team is the Enemy, we should use our Ragnarok and either a) remove ourselves from the fight and avoid a gank, or B) fight off Alistar and use Ragnarok to ensure a kill and a fair chance of escape.

As you can see Olaf can be a major game changer with the ability to remove/ negate ALL Crowd Control and focus down key targets.

Items

With a focus on early game added life-steal, and late game tankiness and damage. There are some substitutes for starter items,
Doran's Shield is your best start against ranged ad carrys such as Ashe or Graves

Boots and 3 pots can be useful for any lane, Vampiric Scepter is my personal preference, thus far.

Masteries and Runes

I use Armor Pen Marks and Quints, this helps us early game against any lane comp, and even late game against tanks.

For Seals, I use a 5 Attack Speed, 4 Armor mix. The additional attack speed can be the difference between a kill and a narrow escape early game and is helpful all the way to late game.
As for the Armor, I believe it speaks for itself but the damage reduction is good but you can run a full Attack Speed run setup, its all about preference.

For Glyphs i run a full Magic Resist, the added survival is a must in my opinion, and I have not tried any other Glyphs for Olaf, i will update this if I do.

Summoner Spells

Ghost and Exhaust work wonders on Olaf, either in ganking or in team fights, both will become endlessly useful (unless they are on CD xD)

Other Fair choices are:

True Damage to add to our Reckless Swing still a good choice but i prefer exhaust

The faster you get back to lane the better, depends on your playstyles, won't hurt you too much to take it in place of Ghost

While it has been nerfed flash is still a good escape, i prefer the dual use of Ghost (ghosting in and out of battle) rather than the escape feature of flash, but again it is up to your playstyle.

Lane phase

Now for Laning Olaf you can choose one of a few ways
*Main Carry
*Zoning
*Support
*Solo Top

Main Carry
First off lets go over being a main lane carry, much like an Ashe or Caitlyn. Meaning focusing on last hits and zoning your opponents back. This can be extremely difficult if your lane partner is a ranged AD Carry and wants to get all the CS (Creep Score). But at the same time if you have a support or tank such as Nidalee, Sona, or Alistar your laning phase will be an exciting one.

Main Laning focuses as Carry
Last hits on minions and zoning your opponents with Undertow and Reckless Swing.
Using Undertow to poke down your enemies andshould they get close enough hit them with a Reckless Swing, when you hit 50% HP start using Tough It Out to keep yourself healthy.

Zoning

Now Olaf can be extremely helpful in lane without being the main threat, such as laning with Teemo, Ashe, or Caitlyn. Allowing these carrys to farm without interruption and out level your Opponents can be a great way to start off a match, this may require a differant item setup using more Gold per 5 items such as Philosopher's Stone and/or Heart of Gold.

Proper Zoning
Make sure your partner is only last hitting the minions to keep the battle in the middle or your end of the lane, then position yourself between enemy minions and the opposing champions, again using Undertow and Reckless Swing to your advantage.
Trying to zone Ranged Carrys can be a lot harder, but infinitely helpful to your team if you are successful.

Support
Much of the same as Zoning, buying Gold per 5 items and letting your Ranged Carry get the last his and keeping them safe, if you decide to go this route you may want to take Heal or Clarity to help out your teammates.

Solo Top
My personal Favorite area of the game, being solo in top lane, whether I am playing Nasus, Olaf, or Mordekaiser Solo top is a great position. having 3 champions getting solo EXP can set you in a great advantage (one person solotop, Jungle, and Mid lane). But its a high risk - high reward area. [/]indent

Playing Olaf Solotop
Playing Olaf solo top requires a different skill order, taking Undertow First as usual but taking a point in Tough It Out at level 2 to maintain your lane. poking back champions with Undertow will make it easier but you will have to play defensively. Using Tough It Out to Heal yourself, is something you will have to get used to quickly to succeed. Make sure you ward the river bush to avoid jungle and mid ganks, (as you have very little escape). Other than that Focus on last hits and given a great chance go for a gank on mid.

Champions

Olaf can counter the following
Ashe
Teemo
Caitlyn
Mordekaiser
Fiddlesticks

This is mostly because of his Ultimate and Ability to slow, along with he true damage and tankiness.

Watch Out For
Fizz
Singed
Irelia
Fed Jax
Fed Sion aka the rape machine.

These lists are just a few champions to each list, ill expand when I have more time

Summary

In Summary, Olaf is one of the best duelists in the game right now, i have not fought a Fiora yet nor do i own her, but she seams to give Olaf a run for his money, but overall he can hold nearly any lane combo in the right hands.

Again this is my first guide, so please keep comments positive and constructive, i am always willing to try new things and check out peoples opinions.

Rioas
