Hello there, I'm FakeTear (FakeHero ingame) and this is my first tutorial for League of Legends. Since my main champion is Riven, I was like, let's make a tutorial for Riven.
Note: my grammar might be terrible.

For runes it's pretty much straight forward. I like some extra attack damage to lasthit more easily, some armor to survive agains the most common top laner (attack damage), and some magic resist for mid/late game agains the ap carry/agressive support (like nidalee).

For masteries I take 21/9/0 which is quite common for a top laner, some extra damage, some extra health and ofcourse the armor penetration.

Items, I like to start with boots and health pots. So I am able to run away for possible ganks, or help my jungler with ganking my lane.

I like to start off with Q because,if needed, I'm able to travel quite a distance with 3 Q's and flash. normally there's no need to use flash before lvl 3. so I like to pick W second.
Q does alot of damage if used like this: Q, basic attack, Q, basic attack, Q basic attack.
this is why I max it as soon as possible. because I'm a quite agressive top laner, I prefer to max W second.

pros:
-Very high dmg if used correcly
-Multiple gap closers

Cons:
-Hard to keep up the good work agains a really tanky top
-Rune dependant

In a teamfight you are able to use Q on all of them, and stun them all. so you are pretty usefull in a teamfight. since you are able to cancel some of their skills

Always try to outfarm ur opponent, this is your main gold source. ~20 minions equals 1 kills.
but minions got less health, less dmg and they don't run away. Farm is more important than kills in most cases.
