I really enjoy rumble hes been my main for a while. Hes really fun to play and a lot of people take to long to take him seriously. Rumble is really powerful early game and the way I play him, his power doesn't change during the whole game. That said lets talk about items.

Most people like to go Will of the ancients and thats fine you can get that in the place of sunfire or force of nature. This is the build I use some people have said it just doesn't work for them so I guess its just my playing style.

Rumble needs to engage the fight normally if they engage you lose. Just spam your Q and try and hit them with it as much as you can and once you think you can take them down use your W-Q-E combo. for farming you really just spam your Q rumble spells work best when you have pushed them pretty far just make sure to have a ward in the bush.

Pretty much you just run around spamming your Q and trying to hit as many poeple as you can with your ult. You can engage the team fight if you want try to bully your way through to the ad and ap carrys. I never really worry about rumbles heat but that's just me.

I like to have all my runes and most of my masteries in the defensive position. You could switch out the MR marks for magic pen and the extra health from the quints is always nice.

If you play rumble right you can beat or at least hang with almost any solo top I have found that sion and yorick can give you some problems but I have beat a yorick its just really hard. With all his aoe hes amazing in team fights especially if you can land your ult in the right place. Late game hes a pain to kill and can pack a good punch so if they don't focus you then fight should be yours for the taking.
