Ever killed 4 people in a teamfight wile scoring that ace with a shen, wile maintiaing 50% hp?
Mabie but with this build and a few pointers that will occur more likly.

Shen is a very good character dispite the recent nukes.

With this build you'll have the upperhand on your ememy wile supporting your allies dealing some great nuke damage.

lets start with shen's passive "Ki Strike"
Every 8 seconds, Shen's next attack will deal (10+5*level) (plus 4% of his maximum Health) bonus magic damage. Each time a champion hits Shen with an attack, Ki Strike activates 3 seconds quicker.

Now lets do the math 3200 x 0.04= 128+100= 228 damage
Now add that on to your base damage 228+148= 376
ok so your damage at level 18 is 376 every 8 seconds

Vorpal Blade
Deals 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+60% of ability power) magic damage to target unit. That unit becomes life tapped for 5 seconds, healing any champions who attack it for 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 (+20% of ability power) health over 3 seconds.

Now since the Nuke its does slightly less damage and is your main skill and first to MAX early game. You also heal against your targets. Hence the attacks speed. You harrass with this skill whenever possible because of the low cooldown. Also you aim for the big minions and warrior minions to heal better.

Shen defends the next champion spell or attack, blocking up to 50 / 115 / 180 / 245 / 310 (+30% of ability power) damage; lasts for 1 source of damage or 2 seconds.

this skill you'll get last unless your in the solo lane due to a jungler. In that case you get W up first instead of ur taunt wile having Q max then keeping E level one until later.

Also this skill blocks Ignite,AOE, Karth's Ult and can be casted wile in Morgana's Snare.
I also feel that it tanks slightly more damage than it leads on. And cannot defend agains turret hits

Shadow Dash
Shen rapidly dashes to a target location, Taunting enemies he collides with for 0.8 / 1.1 / 1.4 / 1.7 / 2 second(s). Restores 40 Energy if you hit a champion.

the very skill that can turn battles into wins and also makes you hit harder. Why you ask? taunt makes them hit you and if you refer to shen's ki strike that means you can hit harder. *duh*

Stand United
Places a shield on both a target allied champion and Shen, absorbing 400 / 600 / 800 (+100% of ability power) damage for 8.5 seconds. Shen's shield absorbs half as much damage. After channeling for 2.5 seconds, Shen teleports to the target's location.

This aslo being has been nuked only gives 200 something at level one. with a higher cooldown.
Don't let this disapoint you because this ULT has some uses.

You can save an Ally or tele into a team fight dealing the winning blow especially during 1v1's

Why Frozen mallet rush?

A) because you gain some HP+Damage wile slowing your ememy's down til they die.
its also better than getting warmongs because that depends on farming and tanks shoudn't spend time farming but tanking. Its also more valuable early game and lasts til late game.

Why Boots of Speed?

A) to catch up to the ememy and can easily be swaped out for merc threads against casters.

Why Last Whisper?

A) to increase attackspeed for healing wile also landing that 40% pen on squishies like teemo. have you seen a shen nuke a Twisted Fate for over half his Hp with a ki strike and vorpal blade? + Dash = more ki Strikes?

Why Guardian Angel?

A) simple to run in the team fight dealing mass damage and living to tell the dead ememy "Nice Try"

Why thorn Mail?
Your taunt forces them to attack you. Guess what Thorn Mail Does? This works wonders on those squishy DPS hitting themselves to death

Ok now here comes the great part about flash.

During shen's early release I discoverd the greatness of FLASH with shen (making me the first one) anyway parting from the standard boring shen build flash makes the unsuspecting ememy that stupid.

For example You use flash to cover that distance your Taunt cannot hit, Thus resulting in a kill.

The ememy will not likly see this comming because there not clever.
but you are!! and thats the reason for this spell.


Here's a short story on why flash is great!. During bottom lane poor weak patheon was hugging his turret with 2 bars of health. Me standing in the bush decided to be a mean o'll bastard. I flashed towards the turret then dashed towards him wile landing Ignite. Now needless to say He Rage Quit because he got shut down within 10 minutes of the game.

Also i did the same trick to another "Warmong build shen" early game. I had the advantage because his warmongs wasn't built but my phage and boots were. I flashed then dashed wile tossing Vorpal Blade. Longstory short he died and died because I understood the way Shen Works.

Now you understand how shen works wich makes me happy :)

Early Game:
Grab a Ruby Crystal and head over to a lane.
You want your Q at level 1.
On level 2 get E.
During the laning phase try to last hit with your Q and when getting low mark warrior minons or cannon minions.
*Tip* by landing your sword it also counts towards the first hit giving you regen so use frequently.
Only start to harrass with vorpal blade on its second level. Have at least enough energy for a dash timing your vorpal blades perfectly.
don't forget to use your flash+Dash+ignite+blade combo to get an easy kill

on your port back
get your phage and boots

again- get the belt or mallet- after the belt upgrade to the proper boots.

Mid Game:
Save your ult to enter a team fight/ turn the tide against the ememy. Its good to have flash ready during the teleport and if your on vent. Get your Shield buddy to move as close to the target as possible to flash and taunt.
Get last whisper if your team is doing great. If not guardian angel or thornmail depending on the situation.

Late Game: keep on tanking and don't forget the turrets they do no damage about 70 with thornmail+guardian angel.
