RUNES/ MASTERIES
I know what your thinking, "LAWL TROLL BUILD ZIGGS SUP GFTO NOOB" but lets take a minute and look at vel'koz, a long range poke low cd q, knock up , aoe damage ability and team fight nuke(literally) all with high base ratios and mediocre scaling, wait thats Ziggs. These two champions are nearly identical in every way, with the biggest exception imo being that Ziggs can skill shot over minions, this means your opportunities to poke and zone the enemy lane shoot through the roof.
In the laning phase your purpose is to keep the adc safe, your biggest asset when trying to do this keeping zoning, for example when you see a support go in to a bush it is one of the best chances you have to hit them with your q, you can fill the entire range of the bush and with the passive from spell thief you will know if you hit them or not, knowing this you need keep the river bush warded, its not going to be hard knowing that the other bush is safe or not, keep that in mind. Next your minefield makes for excellent peel, it will slows the enemy, and really hurts, if done right they will have no option but run right through them. Last your satchel is really your only escape, and is a 2 sided coin, one put it down early and try to put distance between you and the enemy, two for example wait for "input jungler here aka lee sin, xin, diana" to engage you with your satchel directly between you/adc and the enemy jungler, this will put the most distance between you knocking both of you in opposite directions.
Once the laning face begins to end and you and your adc begin to roam, your position in the team changes slightly, instead poking some one down forcing them out of cs and position, you can clear waves giving you advantage for a team fight. One of my favorite things to do is to ult a lane clearing an entire creep wave when no one is near, the minions will clear an push far ahead in the lane giving a that slight edge when no one was watching.
