This is my first guide!!! I hope you like it, i kept it remotely short and simple (unlike most guides). For your skill sequence after you max your E, it really depends on your situation to max Q or W. Say for example you have someone with high DPS you would max your shield(W) but if you were up against a support you would max your Q and if you were against both then you would max both.

Well i find in most DPS Garen guides that Garen Squishy but i also found that people frown on tank Garen so i decided to mix them both. And who ever thinks this is a terrible idea should play this build first, it's sure to change your mind. With this build you do a hell lot of damage but also able to sustain heaps of damage.

Garen one of my favorite charecters, took me about two weeks to perfect this build. As you will realise it is near impossible to finish the build above, which is good if your fed so you can own more. My build bases around high attack, tankish, quick while being dependant on abillites. Read this very carefully...there is a spesific way to play this build.

Garen is a brilliant haresser!!! :)

1. Firstly you will have to be first to arrive at the furthest brush!!! To maximize quickness you can buy the boots through the swiftness boots in the recommend items, then quickly go to consumables.

2. After you receive your items, use your Q ability to gain speed and sprint to the brush. There is no garentee that your the first to the brush so be ready for anything. If you do reach it first, stay there and wait for any victims. Farm minions to get Armour and magic resist from your W's passive.

3. At first you may be squishy so be sure to stay away from champions with stun. You are a great harasser so use this to your ability and use your E ability to harass and farm minions. Spam your shield when ever near a enemy champion.

4. Suck up to your team so they will coment how good you are in the end ;)

5. BTW: your last item up top (if you even reach that far) is your decision and in early game you should always have two or more health pots. Use your passive to your advantage and gank on low health (but do this on your own risk!) then tower hug, going back to heal your self will give you a lv disadvantage unless your minions are far far away from your turrent .

6. YOU ARE GAREN YOU DON'T DIE!!!

Boots of swiftness - All good Garen's should have this, you should be in battle for most of the time so this item is really effective.
Brutilizer - a whole 10% cooldown, a perfect starter item for Garen it even has armour pentration and can be later built into Youmuu's Ghostblade.
Sunfire Cape - Another perfect match, it goes very well with your Judgment and gives you that extra edge on team fights.
Infinity Edge - Besides the major attck boost it gives you the crit chance that you can use when your abilites are on cooldown. The crit chance you get also goes to your Judgment that gives you that extra boost to win a fight.
Warmog's Armour - Some people say i need magic resist but i really haven't found the use, so to get garen more tanky i placed a warmog and if you ever need magic resist t would be when yor vsing a 4 or 5 magic team, if so just spam majic resist. By now you should be a tanky hard hitter.
Force of nature - Seriously if you get this far in the build you deserve a medal, this item i placed was for the people who said my build was lacking magic resist, this aso goes well with your Garen's passive, making you a mean, green, mega healing machine.

Recommended Spells
Exhaust - Very good with your speed, with this spell you'll be able to chase Master Yi with ease.
Flash - ideal for any champion, gives you that extra distance to escape or to chase.

Alright Spells
Ghost - Good speed but with this build it would be more trol than helpful but still alright.
Fortify - you shouldn't be away from your turret that much because you have your passive.
Ignite - You shouldn't even need this spell, i have only one word for you if they escape on low health...NOOB!!!

The rest are either unimportant or aren't for Garen

Try to pair with champions with stuns or tankish. Do not pair with champs with high DPS they're more help to your team on the other side of the map and plus there to hard to kill steal with. As i said before do not go against champs with stuns, swap with someone if you have too. The champion who i thought was the most annoying was Warwick, besides him stopping you in your tracks he ****ing heals himself, so my last comment is....

DO NOT GO AGAINST WARWICK

Garen, The Might of Demacia

Even simply the pursuit of a worthy opponent on the battlefield is, to a true warrior, the reason to rise each morning. If you follow this guide it will asure you instant GG (not necessarily). If you ever complete the item build you should congratulate yourself because that is a wonderful acheivement. Garen is a wonderful tank and dps and harreser and chasser and support, so try this build out and you'll get each part working in harmony.
