I think alot of the champions you listed as not being able to go toe to toe with would loose to Trinity Force Executioner's Calling. Most of them at least.

I like the build and coding too.
But yeah Pantheon is not easy to beat, you can dodge his W, Q, E combo.
Also he is not the guy like Dr. Mundo and Olaf who are going to push the lane, he will just last hit and poke you. So you can expect a lot of ganks when you play against him.
Also i find Rylai's Crystal Scepter slow more useful than Frozen Mallet slow, sometimes I just forget to hit the enemy with auto-attack :)
'Cus you know, I jump him than Empower and maybe than auto-attack but than he has a chance to get away! (I'm being ******ed)

Good guide anyway!

I believe that if you are solotoping, maybe you should consider getting counter strike at lvl 1, as it will allow you to survive quite early ganks. If you don't manage to flash away, and there are no minions to leap strike to, you won't be in the best position.

If a jungler does attempt to gank you before level 3, that means they wont have much to get you, leap strike should get you away pretty east for level 1 ganks, plus you have flash. Not to mention leap strike no matter what will give you a better escape chance than counter strike.

After few not good Jax guides finally something pretty good, BUT I have to disagree with some stuff.

1) Runes:

Imho flat MR runes are worst that stacking MR runes. Its better to get stacking MR runes to have extra MR at late game. Especialy if you do not build (except) boots any MR item.

AD quints sucks. A lot. Every quint should work as three small runes and that deffinitely doesnt work here ( 2,25 < 3*0,95 = 2,85 ). Flat AP or lifesteal quints are much better.

2) Masteries:

0/29/1 seemed interresting until the time I realized you have no Armor/Magic penetration.

8/21/1 is pointless if you dont go for that ONE point into Armor or Magic Pene. I know I said in my guide that Executioner is not so worth it as CD on Flash, but Armor/Magic penetration is deffinitely worth to put a point in there.

24/6/0 seems to me like the most logic option. Even if I would ignore Havoc and get some more defense (Veteran Scars are great from defense for only 9 point totall).

3) Items:

HG and GR were core items for Jax. WERE. Now when he lost his old passive, Jax is too paper to go for only damage. Sooner this was great, but now? No. Its glass-cannon with freaking damage, I agree with that, but survivability sucks like hell.

Next point is the building orded. It is much better to get HG first, because NO ONE will let you stack your passive and GR and then let you kill them. NO ONE.

Warmog's + Atma's is way to go. Check.

Lich Bane has no slow. Rylai's is great item. It is no what it used to be with old passive (500+160 HP) but it is still very viable item.

You should get some optional defensive items. It doesnt matter if you have tons of damage if you die in first second of combat.

4) Skill sequence:

Here I cant say too much. I lvl up Empower first because I want to proc my Sheen as much as possible. But if you dont build Sheen (Trinity force), then its pretty pointless and Leap Strike can be better. Just try one game rushing Sheen and lvling up Empower first and you will know the difference between punch and PUNCH.

5) Summoners:

Check. Np.

6) Lane oponents:

This is great, even if I disagree with some stuff. I wanted to do this several time, but... Nvm. Only few notes here.

At first it always depends on the player. You can in "paper manner" lose the lane, but you will win it and on the other hand you can get pwned by someone you should deffinitely defeat. Etc...

Fiddlestick is not easy. At least not until you hit lvl 8-9. His drain is too strong to outdamage him. And he is much better in jungle than at lane (I play him now like jungler and its great).

GP depends if its noob or not. You can rock over some GPs and get owned by another one.

Nasus for me is not hard to play against. He is annoying with slow and that burning circle, but thats all. If you dont let him farm his Q its okay. I mostly beat Nasus when I get my Sheen. Better say, that lane is about who build Sheen first (eventualy finish whole Trinity Force).

I would not underestimate Pantheon. Since he is nerfed again and again, he is very ANNOYING. He shots his spear, stuns you and then blocks your attack. You may beat him, but he can do the same.

YORICK is the pain that beat Jax all the time. I dont know worse lane than against Yorick.

1. Runes:
I like the early game MR rather then the late game and here's why. Since Jax is very weak early game and I like having strong early game tankyness between runes and masteries to increase sustain so I can farm. I prefer to just play passive until level 6. With early defensive runes it allows you to farm a lot more effectively.

As far as the Quints go, going AP Quints work well, but I feel if you did that it would be a waste for early game since I max Leap strike which scales great with AD. AP though will work, I guess it's a user preference, but I definitely like stacking AD.

2. Masteries:
I like 0/29/1 the most because, again, it reverts back to the tankyness thing. Jax already does a ******ed amount of damage at level 6, so I feel there is no need to get offensive masteries. He does not need the armor pen or magic pen to do good damage.

3. Items:
I STILL go for Rageblade first because it helps zone them during the laning phase. Of course a good player will try to harass you and stop you from keeping the stacks up and wont fight you when you do. However, this will work against them as well, if you attack minions just enough to keep your stacks up, you can zone them hard. If they attempt to stop you, a quick Q > E > W will go right through them.

Another reason is, in team fights, the longer you live (and that's what I'm going for in this guide, survive-ability) the more damage you do, and having a Rageblade only increases your damage the longer you are alive.

As far as staying alive. You very well can switch out many items for more survive-ability, but this relies on the circumstances. If they are REALLY AP heavy or AD heavy, or have someone getting fed, you will want to build to counter them, but this guide is more aimed you wanna aim for on Jax in general. If you are finding you need more survive-ability, you can drop atma's and go warmogs > FoN > something else defensive.

4. Skill Sequence:
I really like leveling up Leap Strike early because of the great mobility it gives you. This is very helpful for jungler ganks, both your jungler and their jungler. Plus the damage good.

6. Lane opponents:
Of course it will depends on the player, but this is more so who is gonna harder to beat and who will be easier. I'm not saying YOU WILL WIN each of these or lose these. As far as fiddle goes you gotta save your stun for his drain, of course his fear could mess it up, but that's where a players skill comes in.

For GP, I would recommend starting with a Doran's Shield to help stop his damage.

Nasus is only hard because you can't kill him when he uses ult because it's a game changing ult.

Again though, constructive criticism is always good :D Glad you liked it
