Basics things
-As malzahar, you want to be against a mid/low range champions: if you are against a champion you can poke everytime, the game should be good.
-You want to play SAFE: Malzahar is a weak champion when everyone focus him, so, you have to care the ennemy jungler and stay behind your team (in safety)
-In early, play with your tower when the ennemy jungler ganks you, if you have your level 6, it will be nice .
-Take care of your mana, in early, you lose it really fast, so you'll have to rush the lost chapter. If you want to optimise, you can play tp and back fast to get a sapphire cristal.
