Hi Im Humanworgen Im going to lead you to this guide Olaf The berserker

Olaf is an extremely potent jungler, which is the way that I most often play him. He has amazing sustainability while in the jungle and has an extremely fast clear time. His ganking capabilities are very unique and he is generally just fun to play.

This is my first guide here on MobaFire and I tried to put as much information as I could think of into this guide. I really hope you enjoy it, please play it before you rate it! Just a note, sorry if my pictures are all broken it happens way too often and I'm not always near a computer to fix it.

Skill Breakdown

Berserker Rage, Olaf's Passive, increases his attack speed by 1% for every 1% of his own total health missing. This is an excellent passive for jungling since Olaf will take some damage his first few levels. Berserker Rage is truly underestimated, it can change the outcome of a fight if he is at a low percentage of health and nobody focuses him. Don't get too ****y though, because Olaf is not invincible.
Undertow, Olaf's 'Q' Ability, Is a skillshot slow with an adjustable range, meaning you can choose how far the projectile will be thrown. (Roughly the same max range as Lee Sin's Sonic Wave / Resonating Strike) This skill, in my honest opinion, is what separates the good Olafs from the not so good ones. Undertow is Olaf's only form of CC, or Crowd Control. This skillshot will cause Olaf to throw an axe that will cause damage and leave an axe impaled to the ground, granting sight for a brief moment. This axe can be picked up if walked over and it will lower the cooldown of the ability by 4.5 seconds, however if it is left on the ground after 8 seconds Olaf will get it back automatically. This ability can make or break a gank. If an inexperienced Olaf throws his axe at maximum range even though the enemy champion is only half of the range away, you are putting your only way of CC out of combat range. Be careful when throwing using Undertow because you don't know when you'll get a chance to pick it back up.

Vicious Strikes, Olaf's 'W' Ability, is an activation that instantly grants him Attack Damage, Lifesteal, and Spell Vamp. The Lifesteal and Spell Vamp are only based on rank, but the Attack Damage scales off of Olaf's maximum health count. 1% of Olaf's health will convert to Attack Damage, similar to Atma's Impaler. Vicious Strikes is what makes jungling easy. Not only does the lifesteal keep you up but Smite scales off Spell Vamp, so if you activate this ability then use Smite, it will heal you.

Attack Damage: 7/14/21/28/35 per rank (+1% of Olaf's total health)
Lifesteal(%): 9/12/15/18/21 per rank
Spell Vamp(%): 9/12/15/18/21 per rank
Cooldown: 12 seconds flat
Reckless Swing, Olaf's 'E' Ability, is a target nuke with similar range to Rammus' Puncturing Taunt. This ability causes true damage, meaning it ignores all resistances. This ability does excellent early game damage, which is why I max is first. Unfortunately, this ability also does excellent damage to yourself. Reckless Swing will hit both you and your target with true damage. The damage you do to yourself is significantly lower, but you need to be careful when using this at lower health, for you may get yourself killed.

Health Cost: 40/64/88/112/136 per rank
True Damage: 100/160/220/280/340 per rank
Cooldown: 8/7/6/5/4 seconds per rank

Ragnarok, Olaf's Ultimate Ability, gives him a passive increase to armor penetration. Along with that, when activated, he clears all CC (like Cleanse) and is immune to all disables (Silence, Slow, Blind, etc.) for 6 seconds. This ability also grants Olaf bonus Armor and Magic Resistance on activation to make him an unstoppable force.

Mana Cost: 100/75/50 per rank
Armor Penetration: 10/20/30 passively per rank
Armor: 30/45/60 per rank
Magic Resist: 30/45/60 per rank
Cooldown: 100 seconds flat

Summoner spells


Smite, in my opinion is required by junglers. Obviously some champions can jungle without it but it can make a clutch baron or dragon steal possible. Therefore, I use Smite every game with olaf

Ghost, is fantastic on Olaf. It can secure a gank if you accidentally miss Undertow, and in combination with Ragnarok you can escape almost every situation you find yourself in. I honestly prefer this to any other spell.

I love building Olaf as an extremely tanky bruiser. Often, dps Olaf is focused extremely easy and will not be able to contribute. With my build, it is pretty much impossible to focus him.

Wriggle's Lantern is just a basic jungling item with a free ward installed. It grants 12% lifesteal, which is awesome. Not only that, it has a 20% chance on hit to instantly deal 425 magic damage to a minion or neutral monster. This will increase your speed in killing Dragon or Baron. Please, don't forget about the ward it has.

Mercury's Treads are my favorite boots to run on Olaf. The magic resist and tenacity help him stay alive as well as assist when ganking. (Reducing the duration of disables if Ragnarok is on cooldown) I get these second to Wriggle's Lanterns.

Warmog's Armor is my favorite item on Olaf. This gives you the tankiness not only to keep you alive, but to make your Vicious Strikes even stronger. Make sure you get this early so it can scale into late game.

Creeping / Jungling

Start by grabbing a Vampiric Scepter and going to blue buff.Check my positioning, I can hit every creep with Undertow, this position only works without a leash. I highly recommend having mid lane leash blue for you. Smite the big golem at 445 health.
Once you reach wolf camp clear them using Vicious Strikes and Undertow. Note my positioning, I can hit every wolf with my Undertow and pick up the axe without moving.
After clearing wolves head to wraiths. It is very difficult to line up Undertow to hit all of the wraiths, so I hit the mini 3 with it while auto-attacking the big wraith. Try to line up the wraiths like I have here, then run through them to hit the big one.
Alright, now a couple things before I get into red buff, normally, I am not this low health, also Smite is not usually up. I was going a lot slower trying to get screenshots. Notice positioning again, try to mimic it. After clearing red go to double golems.
Now you are at the last camp in the first jungle route. Line up the golems like I did and activate Vicious Strikes then Smite the larger golem that yields the healing. The spell vamp will heal you along with the golem heal.
Are all of your laners pushing too hard for you to gank? Just recall and grab some wards or Boots of Speed If not, gank a lane!

Strategy and tactics


Laning Phase: The biggest strategy with Olaf is, honestly, knowing when to pick him. If you see a champion that is typically picked for top Vladimi Kennen Gangplank that has ranged harass will be able to just beat you almost every time. You'll have to play perfectly while they easily win the matchup. Olaf though's general combo is to throw Undertow to close the gap on his opponents, activate Vicious Strikes and Reckless Swing his opponent. If you can get a Reckless Swing off, you'll almost always outdamage your opponent. You really only want to pick Olaf into a matchup you're sure to win as many champions have more utility than Olaf in a teamfight, you are pretty much required to cripple their top lane.

Team Fighting: You generally want to get on target you can to begin a team fight with. If you can charge the enemy carry as you feel you're tanky enough then you should but if it's not the right time to do it don't. Attack whoever you can until you feel you can run right at the enemy AD or AP with ease and close that gap and just murder them. Yes murder them. Make sure they're not able to get away from you because taking out those team champions in a team fight is vital for you winning most of the time.

Olaf should always start with boots and three potions or cloth armor and five potions. The difference should be when you're against physical damage dealers you'll want the +18 armor and five potions so you can outtrade and outlast them. Boots, however you'll want more against ability power champions so that you can dodge their skillshots. However, Olaf will likely lose to these matchups regardless due to them just having range advantage.

Olaf will need a Wriggle's in lane to sustain through harass as he only has Vicious Strikes for sustain. It also allows him to push effectively without using his mana to wave clear. Next up, Olaf will want a Warmog's to scale with his Vicious Strikes for more damage, it also will make him tanky enough to sustain through many people focusing him in a teamfight. Atma's Impaler scales so incredibly well at this point with his health for transitioning into a tanky DPS.

Trinity Force is an item you will likely want to pick up so that the chances you'll be kited are significantly lower. All of the statistics for Trinity Force will benefit him greatly except the ability power. Next you'll want to buy Bloodthirster and Banshee's Veil. You should be so tanky at this point that you will be able to lifesteal tank after they throw all their burst on you. Maw is a really great item, so is Hexdrinker for late game. If the enemy team has AP then its a good idea to get these items for survivability

On an uncharted continent beyond Valoran's grasping clutches, the conqueror named Olaf was born to a long tradition of soldiers unlike most others. Berserkers, as they tout themselves, are warriors who channel fury deep from their cores, unleashing pure and savage wrath upon their enemies. This fearsome evolution is a product of their unforgiving home, Lokfar - a barren tundra where all creatures must vie bitterly for every resource. Olaf belonged to a seafaring clan known for ruthlessly pillaging any and all villages within reach of their dragon-crested longboats. The last time he saw his icy home, Olaf was embarking on an expedition to pioneer and plunder a distant land known only to legend. However, while underway, a terrible storm sprung up and Olaf and his crew were thrown to the mercy of a roiling and pitiless sea.

His ship destroyed, his crew nowhere to be found, Olaf miraculously washed up untold miles from ''friendly'' waters on the foreign shores of Valoran, south of Demacia. This unfamiliar place stunned and frightened the Berserker, for Lokfar is not privy to such potent magicians. Approaching them, Olaf hoped that they could use their mysterious powers to send him back to his people. A bargain was struck. Olaf would use his awesome prowess as a warrior to serve the unusual wars of Valoran in the League of Legends, and in exchange the sorcerers would find him a way to return. Despite his participation in the League, Olaf knows better than to trust the ''finger wagglers'' that run the Institute of War. He deliberately keeps details of his life and home from them. After all, with enough information, they would most certainly find the Lokfarians and dominate them as they have dominated all of Valoran, keeping both quietly -- and unwittingly -- in their thrall.

Beware the war cry of the Berserker. What surges toward you is unyielding, free from the shackles of reason.

Olaf gains spell vamp through his Vicious Strikes ability, so always activate it before you trade or use Reckless Swings, it'll refund some of the health costs and maybe even put you over what you spent. The spell vamp can also be used for Undertower on 6 minions to gain a huge health boost, you can also pick it up and throw your axe again.

Olafhas amazing synergy with Zilean for his bspeedboost to get into fights. Combined with Ragnarok this will effectively prevent Olaf from being kited. Olaf getting Galio's Bulwark or Soraka's heal will also make him practically invincible to damage so that he can bulldoze his way through a fight and execute the enemy team's carries. Champions that also pack a lot of spammable CC or damage like Ryze also go with Olaf really well as it allows him to freely dive and kil enemies with the focus not being on him.

Once again, Olaf is countered by most everything with a ranged harass in lane. Furthermore, he has huge issues with % cleave champions like Warwick and Kog'Maw who can simply cut through his high max health with their abilities. He also has a major issue being kited so high mobility champions like Ahri, Tristana, and Graves can be very difficult to get to even with your Ragnarok active.

When you play Olaf, you build him as a tank, becuase he does true damage and he blocks all incoming CC with his ultimate. He should be able to easily take the AD carry out of the team fight. This is why you build these runes, for this purpose into late game. It also helps you farm early levels when olaf is weaker in lane. You should go offensive runes when playing Olaf. This is so that you can counter the lane. Be sure to play aggressive in top lane and farm effectively.

Pantheon that he deals huge damage, and that he got advantage of you by kill/death ratio, but sadly he is really bad against minions, unlike. Olaf that can jungle really easy, i would recommend you to just get your self as much as possible creeps by - letting your minions deal all the damage to them and you 'last hit' them, this will provide you not only experience points it will also provide you with gold.
you need this gold to stick with your champions kill/death, lets say for example that 1 minion gives you 30 gold - 10 minions and you get the same amount of gold for that 1 kill that your enemy has, in each wave of minions there are 7-9 minions that are coming together.
if your playing with a partner in the same lane and he has his kill/death ratio really good, ask him to leave you the creeps so you can both be in the same amount of money, if he won't listen to you let him push and then just kill steal his minions, i would recommend you to not push when you are having a bad game, i would tell you let the enemy creeps push and you just clean them really slowly with the money to yourself, not only that you can farm, you can also jungle, jungle provides you higher amount of experience and also higher amount of gold.
also it can give you buffs that can help you get back to the game.
If you really got a bad game and you have got a bad team with you, try using the build only with the tanky items, not only these items are good you can also use Thornmail Guardian's angel and more tanky items.
this will give you a free way to tank while your team deals the high damage, this can give you nothing but for the team its good.
If the jungle is completely clean just try to run between the lanes and get yourself creeps for any price.Farming
When you have Wriggle's and Berserker's Greaves you'll farm super fast. You can take down the lizard or the ancient golem in maybe 3 seconds flat. 5 at most. well those are rough estimates, but basically he just nukes **** UP you know.

Team Work

How you should work with you team.
If you are taking solo top, you should come to your bot lane for many ganks, this will provide you and your team by gaining kills (if you did a successful gank) also gives your team in down the option of getting higher level and maybe pushing bot lane, destroying a turrent and continue in your lane, you can also ask your team to come gank for you when you see that while you were bot helping your teammates and the top enemy is pushing you can ping on him and ask for help by killing him, you can also work with your team by asking them helping you with the dragon, or if.

Warmog's Armor are highly heathed and defensive items it is used fro tankies i use them for Olaf because he is a tank like these characthers, Alistar, Poppy, phantheonand many other. THATS WHY WARMOGS ARE USEFUL EVEN IF U DIE A HUNDERD TIMES WITH TANK NP :)
