Champion Build Guide
Introduction
Kayn is a slippery, insatiable nightmare who uses his victims' bodies as a recreational vehicle. The Shadow Reaper's ult is horrifying enough, but even scarier is his tendency to emerge, suddenly, from any wall in the Rift.

Abilities
Passive:
The Darkin Scythe
Kayn wields an ancient, sentient weapon, that battles with him for control. Each instance of damage (excluding damage over time) and takedowns
Kayn deals against champions causes them to drop orbs, red by melee champions and blue by Ranged champions, that are automatically collected upon leaving combat, filling their respective bars by 2.5 − 7 (based on minutes) points per orb.
If Kayn is damaged by an enemy champion, he will instantly collect all dropped orbs opposite to the attacker's range type and fill the corresponding bar of his attacker's range type.
If out of combat, and once one of the bars is full, which scales down with game time,
Kayn will either be overwhelmed by Rhaast or expel him to become the Shadow Assassin, based if the filled bar is red or blue, respectively. Once primed, the other option becomes available after 4 minutes.
The transformation can only be performed by interacting with their portrait while on the summoning platform, permanently changing their abilities and granting them Homeguard.
SHADOW ASSASSIN:
Kayn deals 12% − 44% (based on level) of post-mitigation damage dealt against enemy champions as bonus magic damage, lasting for 3 seconds upon entering in combat with an enemy champion, refreshing after 8 seconds out of combat with them or by using
Umbral Trespass.
RHAAST: Rhaast heals for 34.5% − 43% (based on level) of the post-mitigation Attack damage physical damage that he deals with spells against enemy champions
Q:
Reaping Slash
Kayn dashes forward, dealing physical damage to all enemies he passes through before flourishing his scythe, dealing the same damage again to surrounding enemies.
The dash's speed scales with
Kayn's total movement speed.
RHAAST: Both instances of damage are modified to 50% AD (+ 5% (+ 4% per 100 bonus AD) of target's maximum health) physical damage, capped against monsters.
Both instances of
Reaping Slash deal 55 bonus damage against monsters.
PHYSICAL DAMAGE:
60 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 (+ 65% bonus AD)

E:
Shadow Step
Kayn gains 40% bonus movement speed, is ghosted and can ignore terrain collision for 1.5 seconds. Immobilizing effects will interrupt shadow step.
Kayn heals himself upon moving through terrain for the first time and, if he's not in combat with enemy champions, duration is increased. While inside terrain,
Kayn's vision pierces all obstructions although he cannot see into brush.
Entering combat with a champion after the effect is enhanced reduces the remaining duration to 1.5 seconds. The effect also cannot remain active out of terrain for longer than 1.5 seconds.
SHADOW ASSASSIN: Casting removes Slow icon slows and makes
Kayn immune to them for the duration. Additionally, entering terrain will increase the bonus movement speed to 80% for
the remaining duration.
HEAL:

Kayn wrenches himself free from their body in the cursor's direction, dealing physical damage to the target.
SHADOW ASSASSIN: gains 200 bonus range and emerging from the target resets
The Darkin Scythe's cooldown.
RHAAST: Umbral trespass is modified to deal 10% (+ 13% per 100 bonus AD) of target's maximum health physical damage, and heals him for 7% (+ 9.1% per 100 bonus AD) of target's maximum health.

Ability analysis
Passive:
This is your biggest strength and biggest weakness. In the early game you essentially have no passive, but in the mid game you get to chose between two different playstyles. Note that Rhaast is more efficient if you are behind, but the Shadow assassin in a nightmare when ahead. Choose wisely.
Q:
This is your bread and butter. Use it as your main damage source that you can land reliably. The dash allows you to keep up with fleeing enemies, shredding their healthbars for making the choice of retreat. RHaast can use this to output percent max health damage reliably.
W:
This is your most damaging ability in the early game, and becomes a massive part of your kit in the late game. Try using it from brush to ensure that you land the high damage. With Rhaast it provides A knockup instead of a slow, and with SA it no longer roots you while you channel it.
E:
This is what makes Kayn a pain to fight. Unlike most top laners, you can roam pretty easily, and pick up a few kills in Mid-lane if you are lucky. I recommend only doing this if the enemy top laner is missing or dead. It is also an option if your turret is destroyed early on. The heal makes for a great escape tool if you need to leave a lost fight. As SA the slow immunity and massive speed boost allows you to make even more escapes. Another trick is to use this to ambush your opponent by moving through the northern wall.
Ultimate:
This is a deadly tool in the right hands. It makes turret diving very easy, and although the damage is not massive, the utility it provides is invaluable. The heal on Rhaast is massive and the Passive reset is lifesaving for SA.
