Introduction
Now with (estimated)math!

This is personal reference, you can go all armor pen or all attack damage and it works perfectly well.

Well considering that most likely there is an AD carry on the other team in your lane.

Best glyph ever, why wouldn't you get it?

Get it. Do it now.

I don't prefer it but it works.

Ultimate scavanger, his built in steroid.

Ranged harass that slows AND has healing reduction must have!

This one is great, if you can hit it.
This is a long serious section so if you're just here for the jokes then ignore this part
let's look at the base damage stats for these abilities
For this section assume you have 140 AD
70 base 70 bonus
Minimum Damage: 10 / 43 / 77 / 110 / 143 (+1.0 per attack damage)
Maximum Damage: 15 / 65 / 115 / 165 / 215 (+1.6 per attack damage)
Physical Damage: 65 / 105 / 145 / 185 / 225 (+0.6 per bonus attack damage)
minimumQ
143(140)
-225(42)
16
chargedQ
215(224)
-225(42)
172
So at max rank Q does more damage in both scenarios if hitting your target flat there is the 15% diminishing damage per minion or champion hit(15%) less and it isn't just the base damage that suffers also the scaling does too.
{cap is 66% less or 5 minions/champions}
Minimum Diminished: 3.3 / 14.3 / 25.7 / 36.7 / 47.7 (+0.33 per attack damage)
Maximum Diminished: 5 / 21.7 / 38.3 / 55 / 71.7 (+0.53 per attack damage)
So with 1 target in front of the one being focused (still assuming 140 AD)
at min: 122(.85 AD) = 122(119)= 241 = 42 AD deficit (26 AD under E)
at max: 183(1.36 AD) = 183(190.4) = 373 = 66 AD deficit(106 AD over E)
So with 2 target in front of the one being focused
at min: 100(.7 AD) = 100(98) = 198 = 85 AD deficit (69 AD under E)
at max 151(1.12 AD) = 151(157) = 308 = 131 AD deficit (41 AD over E)
So fully charged a
Piercing Arrow still does Better DPS eh?
Correct if you can get it through less than 3 minions it does more damage for just poking I still haven't gone over the fact that Q stops your from auto attacking so in an extended trade it is contradictory.
The approximate BASE attack speed of
Varus at level 11 .77 APS(base + leveling up bonus) (you probably have berzerker's greaves by now so +.1645 APS = .9345.
It takes 1 - 1.5 seconds to charge
Piercing Arrow(I can't determine and also can't find anywhere that references how long it takes to get max charge) basically with the 1.6 scaling q max charge(assuming that the charge is 1 second)
Piercing Arrow does 84 more damage
(still the assumption is that you're at about 140~ damage)
It is always more effective to auto-attack and
Hail of Arrows when behind 2 minions+
**Keep in mind I'm not accounting for the slow on
Hail of Arrows which in many situations is helpful.**
*If someone can find out the actual charge time it would be much appreciated*

There are certain situations either
Hail of Arrows or
Piercing Arrow are more effective.
I feel there are more situations where
Hail of Arrows is more effective than
Piercing Arrow which is why I generally recommend that you max it first.
It also depends on WHO your support is. (I'll talk more about that in another section that I will make another time.)

Starting the laning phase, poke as much as possible. Try to hit their AD carry and get a stack of
Blighted Quiver off while maintaining CS. making the opposing AD carry miss a CS is key to playing
Varus but don't miss any yourself while doing so.

Maintain position and don't lose your head, garbage men smell bad so they don't like getting close to people. so keep your distance in team fights
