Introduction

Vayne is a ranged AD Carry DPS, who was nerfed three times since her release. Apparently those nerfs could kill Vayne, but she remains totally viable in SoloQ or in 5x5 premade.
Her strength comes from her true damage and insane damage endgame which makes her one of the deadliest AD carry End game. However, she's vulnerable and can be countered quite easily.

In this guide you will learn how to play her at 100% of her potential.

Base Stats :


Damage: 50 (+3.25 / per level)
Health : 359 (+83 / per level)
Mana : 173 (+27 / per level)
Move Speed : 300
Armor : 9.3 (+3.4 / per level)
Spell Block : 30 (+0 / per level)
Health Regen: 4.5 (+0.55 / per level)
Mana Regen: 6.3 (+0.4 / per level)


Pros :

Insane damage late game
Snowballs hard
Many escape mechanics
She has CC
TRUE DAMAGE
Can chase
She's so d4rk!!!


Cons :

Low HP pool
Short range
Can't tumble through wall
Single target
Her dance suxx!

Masteries

4 points in Alacrity, Vayne is good with an improved attack speed to proc her W.
2 points in Butcher, since you are runing armorpen runes you need help to last hit.
4 points in Deadliness to have a potential to get more AD later in the game.
1 point in Weapon Expertise : 8% Armor is really good throughout the game.
1 points in Havoc to get Lethality, 1 or 2% won't change anything.
2 point in Lethality, one of the rare way to increase your critical damage.
1 point in Frenzy it will scale with your items.
2 points in Brute Force, good to get extra AD and might help you to get a kill early game. (like 1 AD Quint).
3 points in Sunder to have more armor pen to get a better harass early game.
Finally 1 point in Executioner which synergies well with your W.

Defensive tree : (instead of utility tree to have more sustainability)

4 points in Durability, HP/lvl yellow free, really good to hold your lane and extend your hp pool.
3 points in Hardiness or 3 points in Resistance depending on your lane opponent if he's AD or AP.
1 point Veteran's Scar : Free Flat HP Quint.

Runes

Mark

AD : AD runes let you last hit minions caster under tower (after 1 tower hit) and scale very well with your E and Q, you may deal less damage on your opponent but the damage output from spells is better. Synergies with LS Quints.
Armor Pen : In the current meta almost everyone get yellow armor runes, red armor pen helps you a lot to deal more damage early game (against champ). Better if you aim mid/late game.



Seal

Armor : Great early game, but less and less efficient throughout the game (especially when the enemy AD carry gets Last Whisper). At the beginning of the game, you won't take true damage (most of people gets armor pen marks), letting you a great lane sustain. Plus armor runes are very cheap (one of the best cost/efficiency in the game), it's a must have.
Strength : I used to take these runes, but there are not that good anymore. Certainly you will have more damage : ONLY ON MINIONS. If your opponent is using armor runes while you use AD runes, you will hurt him a bit, but he will hurt you HARDER. Since people use armor runes on AD carry, strength are not efficient. You might use them if you lane with Taric (free armor).
Mana/Lvl : Vayne is not mana reliant, except if you spam your E but you don't have to spam it. It is a big waste to take mana/lvl instead of armor, you will lack of survability.


Glyph

Flat MR : It helps you if you are laning against harass AP champ (Tristana, Sona for example). In the current meta holding your lane is paramount (to outcreep your opponent most of the time), Vayne is good everytime in the game so don't worry if you don't kill someone early game.
MR/lvl : I feel like MR/lvl is good, if you trust in your support : if he can ward (preventing a gank from middle), or can heal you when you need it. MR/lvl is less efficient until level 9, Trist/Kog/Sona damage (most annoying AP bottom lane) are pretty high at level 6, if you don't have enough MR, you may not survive. That's why I think Flat MR is better most of the time but against double ap composition, MR/lvl is a good alternative or if you solomid.
Mana/Lvl : Like I said, Vayne is not mana reliant and you can take better Glyph than Mana/Lvl.
AS : To consider against some comps or with Soraka as support.


Quint

Armor Pen : Stats got nerfed hard, isn't that good anymore.
Flat AD : Last hit, harass, tumble's damage increased. Really good quints for Vayne.
