Champion Build Guide

Updated Aura Monster Vladimir 1v9 Guide 📖✒️

By Zamus
Short Introduction

Hello, I'm a Vladimir player and this is my guide. Through this guide I will try to help you become the auramonster Vladimir player the enemy team always has and 1v9 as much games as possible.

Why choose my guide? Well, I've been playing this champion nonstop for a while and this is the reason I've recently reached master. Of course, I'm still learning the champion and the game. There may be one or two things that could be wrong or there could not be enough information about certain aspects.

Why Vladimir? If you usually find yourself fantasizing about running down the enemy team like a freak and you are into hemomancers (who resemble vampires) who outsustain whole teams, then this is the champion you're looking for.

If you think something I said in this guide is wrong or you have more questions feel free to leave a comment and I will try to answer them.
Advice
I will start with some tips about the champion and some fundamentals:

  • You are playing a late game champion, meaning your early game will be hard, depending on matchup.

  • Until level 5/6 you are weak, until then you should look for less trades, stay behind and look for last hits on minions. Looking to Transfusion with your crimson rush is worth it tho, that is your only damage in early.

  • It may sound stupid but in some situations using Ghost just to hit an empowered Transfusion to get an hp advantage is actually worth.

  • Also, using your Hemoplague for hp advantage in laning phase is worth too.

  • Keep in mind that while the enemies are marked by Hemoplague they get 10% increased damage from all sources for 4 seconds. Because of this you should be using it before your other abilities.

  • Farming is the most important thing on Vladimir, so you should try to stay in lane and farm as much as possible. If you're playing on mid for example, and your laner looks to roam on bot, prioritize signaling your team that he is missing and warn them to not int. You should help them only if it's likely that you will get a takedown (ideally kills, not assists) from that fight. If they start flaming you just mute them and focus on the game.

  • This is mostly a general advice, but it is really important on late game champions especially, try staying as calm as possible (it is hard even for me) because if you manage to keep your consistency while ignoring your inting teammates, the game is more likely to be won.

  • This is really important too, holding Tides of Blood charged, pressing Sanguine Pool, or using Zhonya's Hourglass while having your crimson rush extends it's duration.

  • Your empowered Transfusion gives you more health if you hit a champion with it.
Boots
Sorcerer's Shoes are the best when they have a lot of squishy champs and want to have that extra damage to secure the late game oneshots.

Swifties excel when you play against a lot of slows, or against champions that build Rylai's Crystal Scepter because they provide that extra mobility and slow resist.

Ionian boots are a great option when you want some extra ability haste and spell haste, or when you play the Conqueror setup.

Merc treads are not boots I would really recommend unless you are cursed to play against a Fiddlesticks, but even then, buy them only if you really think that you need the extra magic resistance and tenacity.

Gluttonous Greaves are some interesting new boots, but I would play them only on midlane because of the upgraded version which provides extra damage / healing power.
Early Game
In Early Game you should focus on farming as much as possible as I've said in the Advice section. Look for trades mostly when your empowered Transfusion is up. Play safe until level 5/6, after that you can look for more aggresive plays.

If the enemy starts pushing, try keeping the wave closer to your tower so the enemy jungler can't come on your lane. It's a bit problematic if the wave somehow ends on your laner's side.

If you have trouble last hitting minions with your auto attacks, you should go to practice tool and just last hit minions until you get used to it.

I recommend going the Deathfire Touch + Ignite against most melee champions. This rune works better if the enemy champion is stronger in early, for example Irelia or Fiora and just play more aggresive than usual.
Mid Game
When you reach Mid Game you are already way stronger. You can start side laning and looking for the side turrets' plates. You still have to farm, don't forget that, if you stop farming you will fall behind and it will be harder for you to stay relevant in the game.

Of course, from this point you can start playing a bit more around your teammates, you don't have to be as selfish as you were in early. For example, your team wants to play for the upcoming nashor, so you will try side laning on top in order to be near your team.
Late Game
If your team didn't forfeit yet, it means that you may have reached the Late Game. At this point of the game you are strong enough to run down the enemy team and just clean their every backline. You should ignore the tanks until you blew up the squishier ones.

You shouldn't randomly walk in the unwarded jungle like an npc because if the enemy team cc's you hard enough, you die and the game is lost.
Skin Tier List
  • It's very important, isn't it?

5/10

The default look of Vladimir is... eh, it looks bad but sometimes it works.

4/10

The only good thing about this skin is his splash art, in game it looks horrendous, it is just the default skin but it looks uglier because of the colors.

9/10

After playing with this skin for a while I changed my mind. Peak splash art, even though the model is outdated, the skin feels good to play with.

8/10

The skin concept works so well because he looks ugly and is made to be ugly but it is the type of ugly that is cool in it's own way.

?

I'm speechless

10/10

Old skin but it feels really good to play with. He has great animations and interesting voice lines.

9/10

He's cool.

9.5/10

The scarf is really cool and the suit is nice.

8.5/10

I like this skin a lot, especially with the white chroma, it has a cool splash art, good looking in game model and the effects are cool as well.

6/10

I'm not really impressed with this skin, in my opinion it is just slightly better than the default one.

10/10

Honestly this skin with the obsidian chroma is my favorite Vladimir skin. The butler aesthetic works so well with the champion, the tea effects are cool and the recall effect is great.

7.5/10

This skin is kind of nice, the effects are ok. In my opinion the recall is the best thing of this skin, and the w looks cool too.

9/10

In my opinion the first model/splash art of this skin was better than the remake, but otherwise it is a skin that has animations that feel good.

10/10

I really love this skin, great effects, good model and the slightly modified sound of his voice is great too. The only unfortunate thing is that they could put a bit more effort into the skin and make it legendary.
