Volibear, The Thunder's Roar is one of my favourite champions and in particular my favourite tank because he can easly fight against everybody, and a good attack who allow to slain many people every game.

6 I recommend Armor Penetration runes for the high strenght of Volibear , cuz he can grab the enemies with Q, slow them with E and kill them with W.

3 (Another runes for attack speed to increase that effictiveness).

& The others runes (9 & 9 obviously) are necessary on a tank.

Health's quintessences are good for the W, who need also of a lot of hp to work great.

Volibear is still a tank, so i use 0-22-8. I think is important put 4/4 on the Masteries of Speed in Utility, because Q on Volibear is so important in TF to suppress the AD Carry. Summoner Insight's allow then to use Teleport and Flash without problems.

Volibear needs a lot of hp, so the first important item is Warmog and then Frozen Mallet to take also a good damage and slow enemies. After, if your team need extra defense, you can take the Aegis of the Legion or Mercury Trades if there are AP carries. If there aren't these conditions, so you can try also Berseker's Greaves to take more atk speed and optimize the W. After these items (i think they are standard on a good Volibear), all depend by the opponent team.

W is the most important Volibear's skill, who slains enemies and minions so easly. After maxed this as soon as possible, you can max as you wish the others skill. Q is more important than the E because can grab the Ad carry, and make it ineffective.

Teleport is good to defend towers and farm sometimes. Flash can be used as to attack as to escape.
