Hmmmm, interesting. Kind of supporty. I'm not sure I like the damage Northern Winds will do with Aegis in place of Warmog's, but it should be ok overall.

Have you tried Regrowth Pendant + Health Potion to start? If you take Heal like your build says, you might do ok in jungle this way. You'll be able to farm your Philo on your first trip.

Pretty epic, we have almost the same build only id go for Frozen Mallet, Mobility boots, Randuin and Atmas in addition to Shu and Banshee's, but its all, as you said, dependant on the situation its just that randuins is always buy for real tanks in my case and frozen... oh its such a pleasure to see people crigne while you beat them with 40 damage pre hit but they are on 200MS and cant get away from you even if you didnt use permafrost (down to min cap of 150 with randuin or perma). Mobility benefit her much more since she needs to get to fights fast and cc doesnt really stop you, you just cc them pack (and her spells are just aim at vaigue direction, not real skillshots like rupture, nevermove, most cassios spells, event horizon, etc) or that her damage is reliant on her aaing all the time (the slow is 3 seconds, most cc is 1~2).

@MajorLoL: The reason a support typically builds these things is because they are cheap tank items that are itemized very well. So let's look at why I choose this path on Sejuani:
  • Sejuani wants to give away her buffs, which loses her valuable gold and experience.
  • She also has very poor health sustainability in the early game.
  • You want to be ganking on a near constant basis.
  • You do not build Wriggle's Lantern, necessitating the purchase of wards.
Because of these things, itemizing early tankiness will not only allow you to gank with less risk, but also jungle with more health. On top of those two issues, it is the only thing you'll really be able to afford early on. I would take a Ruby Crystal and Null-Magic Mantle over a Chain Vest and 175 gold in almost any early game situation.

The second overall reason I build these items is that they provide a single large advantage to the user (Sejuani) and a secondary advantage to your team. Since you'll be relying on your team to clean up most of your messes, having them tankier, faster and more able to complete their job through "support" items is necessary. I do include a section on building tankiness properly and in some games I forego Aegis or Shurelya's for early Negatron Cloak or Chain Vest. However, in most games against most teams, I feel this is a strong build.

@tehAsian: Getting a catalyst early might be ok. You don't gain that many levels quickly after getting that much gold. This would lead to maybe 1 tripping of this passive in the jungle, which may not be enough to put it over the edge. The benefits of its later build are pretty strong, so I would think it's a viable path if you wanted to farm hard on Sejuani. HoG is a solid item as well, but I don't always build it. Having GP/10 items lends itself to a longer game and on Sej I try to seal the deal early with ganking. If I see that the game will be a haul because it's really close, I will build a heart.

I try to make guides for champions that don't have a good one. I didn't see a Sejuani or Kayle guide I liked or that replicated my style, so I put them together. I believe there are a number of solid Udyr guides on the site currently.

Good as always, but I have a few questions:

Would getting a Catalyst early be good? The passive might help you stay in the jungle longer as long as you pull successful ganks. Plus, you can build it into a Banshee or RoA later.

Likewise, what about HoG? Every time I jungle a tank I pick it up after Philo Stone so I have decent gold even if my farming is slow or I need to blue pill.

Lastly, why you no make Udyr guide? :O

Nice guide as always. What I would expect from somebody holding two top guides. Anyways, I think the build is ok, but shouldn't you leave support-ish type items to the support. It seems like getting tankier faster would be the more optimal choice.

Just noticed that comment, and Missury said "Garbage instead of assembly". Whatever the hell that's supposed to mean.

Edit: Just realized a synonym for "Assembly" is "Build", so he was trying to say he disliked the build.

@WhiteJarate: I could include a section on that, I'll see when I have time to write it up.

I honestly have yet to see a good Sejuani, let alone a good Jungle Sejuani. The reason for this, in my experience, threefold.
  • One reason is that Sejuani has no built-in way to increase her own survivability. Literally every other tank in the game as some way of increasing his/her own survivability, whether it be through damage reduction, a shield, healing, or max health increases. This wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for reason number 2.
  • Sejuani's lack of repeatable hard CC (defined by any CC that prevents champions from doing something/anything: stuns, suppresses, snares, silences, knock-ups, etc). Her only hard CC comes in the form of Glacial Prison. Don't get me wrong: it's an amazing move. It's just that she doesn't have anything other hard CC to go with it. Take, for example, Amumu. He has a similar kit to Sejuani, complete with a gap-closer, a damaging AoE DOT, a damaging AoE nuke, and an AoE hard CC ult. What's the difference? Bandage Toss is hard, repeatable CC. Even Garen has his repeatable silence, and I'm not even going to bother explaining Alistar.
  • The third reason is that Sejuani actually gets kills. She's a natural kill-stealer because Northern Winds does just enough damage to finish off low-health champs around her before the carries have a chance to do so. In other words, she gets relatively fed without the capability to abuse it, and prevents her carries from getting fed.

Sejuani is incredibly easy to learn. However, because of the three reasons above, she is incredibly hard to master. Perhaps a section dedicated to ability timing would be helpful, describing when to activate and when not to activate each ability. When trying to feed your carries (part of your job as the tank), timing is key. Knowing when to activate Permafrost, when to turn on Northern Winds, as well as the decision of whether to initiate with Arctic Assault or Glacial Prison, separates the bad from the good. Without this mastery of the timing of her abilities, Sejuani becomes a bigger kill-stealer than tanky Garen. It takes a lot of skill and timing to make use of Sejuani's raison d'ĂȘtre, and take advantage of one simple fact: she slows like none other.
