Nice, but yea pretty basic. Look at Xiao's tutorials for some more advanced work.
Also, for text, you generally wanna add effects, not just slap it on.
for brushes, check here :)
it takes practice, but GJ for first sig :D

Thanks to TRUeLM, Plastictree, Scrax, Xiaowiriamu, foggy12, JahGFX, jhoijhoi, msrobinson, JEFFY40HANDS, Nyoike, MissMaw, and me :) for the sigs!
I like it except for one thing. the text blends in to much and is hard to read. It doesnt pop out and personally I think for a sig you want that pop of a text, but not over done to where it takes away from the image.
Nice work tho.

Not really, it depends on the image. In MOST cases you want the text blended in well (ironically the technique to do this is called blending), so it doesn't take away from the image but is still there. Usually you don't want it too visible.
If anything, I think that text pops out too much, I would recommend using drop shadow and make it the same color as the background using a clipping mask.
good text:
I won't show any examples of bad text, even though I have seen some, as to not insult anyone ^_^

The text isn't blended its just horrible color coordinated into the blue, red and blue just don;t flow which makes the human eye unable to focus as if you look at it for long the red just blurs eventually.
First sig is good. Just practise, I know for a fact a lot of people use the "motion blur" technique for a background when first experiencing making signatures. ^_^
Not many tips i can give, but following tutorials can help. As wrath suggested i have a resource of some very nice tutorials of which i highly recommend, however you can find many more on the internet (google, gamerenders, planetrenders) etc.
and also as wrath said about text clipping mask is just a really easy option and i use it a lot. I could spend hours blending text in etc. but clipping mask is just efficient easier and faster.
Example:
Not sure whether the artist did clipping mask or gradient overlay but as you can see you want to pick the main color or color scheme from your signature as a whole and use that as the text.

This is my first sig... Kept it very simple was just curious on what people thought, also wanted to ask if there was a way to get more brushes?
