Thought I'll share some of my PSD's with you guys as I've been getting a few requests about how I do them, I chose a mix of some of my signatures done in the past month; I personally think by looking at PSD's it can help gain a further insight into how the maker got the final product, and it can also be sometimes more helpful than a tutorial. The PSD's follow a similar format, and you'll start to notice the style I have when making signatures, it's not particular advanced level, more beginner/moderate to be honest with you. Signatures are small artworks often made with adobe photoshop that are used in a users signature area on forums. Signatures come in different styles and shapes. Signatures can look photo-realistic, abstract or have a grunge feeling; with signatures everything is possible. Almost all signature designers use the program adobe photoshop, you can download a free trial here: adobe photoshop trial
Tag is another word for signature
Render is a cut out part from a wallpaper, picture, poster that is used as the main focal point in a signature.
Stock is an uneditted wallpaper, photo or pictures that is used in signatures. (often for the background)

A good signature designer needs 2 things, good knowledge of the program he is using and good resources to use with that program. You will need to download brushes, fonts, renders, c4d renders, patterns and much more to really get the best out of your program.
The best way to learn making signatures is by reading lots of tutorials that will teach you the basics of photoshop and all kinds of techniques.
Just use google and you will find thousands of signature tutorials with the click of a button. But there is a problem, most tutorials are really rubbish and you will only get more confused. How do I know? Because I have been in that exact same situation. Thats why I decided to create this thread:

- Always experiment and try new things
- Erase tool is your friend
- Try to make yourself a 'signature template' which outlines the flow of your signature
- Adjustment layers such as color balance and gradient maps are essential to achieving awesome signatures!
- Use sources such as Google and 'brusheezy' to aid you
- Always set your c4d's to linear or color dodge unless otherwise... ^_^
