Actually, it might.
League is more than just mechanical skill and knowledge, you need to try to create and use a psychological advantage too.
I know that half the players at low Elo wouldn't give a damn about how fed that Talon or Heimerdinger is, but give a Kennen or Jayce first blood and they instantly think GG because of the uneasy feeling that maybe, that Kennen or Jayce knows how to play that OP champion as well as the pros.
That loss in morale more often than not leads to lost games, but also pressures the other lanes to do better and play aggressively to try to get fed. Which, often backfires.
On the flip side, if that Kennen or Jayce was on your team, suddenly the mood is more positive, because "OMG this guy is good with an OP champion! Victory is secured!" Then they **** up less because they're happy and they can think clearly. Also, it alleviates the solo queue mentality that "My team sucks, I have to play aggressively and get fed and give these idiots free Elo."
Oh, a score of 2-12 is easily fixed :p I've come back from a lot worse.

So i just played a few normals filling in whatever was necessary, and I played 2 jungle Xin games, and I think I might pick him up. He's actually an extremely easy champion to use mechanically, with very few complicated tricks. He's basically master the theory, master the champ. And as a jungler, he's in a very good spot to carry, so gonna try playing a few more games as him tomorrow to see how it goes.
