I don't think things are that grim. You forget Devour has multiple purposes, all great. He's a bit on the Braum spectrum of lacking meaningful engage opportunities, but makes up for it with great utility and saving abilities and roaming opportunities. Not too sure why everyone's dogging on the big fish. It's Bard all over again. He's gonna get buffed due to complaints like this, then become ******ed.

Tahm's defensive qualities are just not good enough for soloq. So he saved his adc once, but chances are his adc is just gonna end up in another mess before tahm can react in the first place (slow + melee)...
Imo it's the ADC's job to position properly in the first place but if a Nocturne or something jumps on him then Tahm can just eat him to keep him safe for a while then spit him out in a position where he's safe or can kite, it can also buy time for other team members to get in a position to peel
But yeah so far I don't really like Tahm Kench, will have to see more of him and people playing him at his full potential like Bard

On the PBE, I actually liked him more as a laner than support - both when playing him and playing with him. I think he needs items to be effective, and you're not likely going to get enough cash as a support to do that.
wish i could play so i could decide myself how i feel about the new champ/devourer, but from what ive been watching/thinking
1. devourer is overrated and overhyped as ****. i doubt it'll ever see much light in competitive matches.
2. tahm reminds me a ton of release bard. weak lane but a ton of utility and playmaking ability at the cost of being very team coordination dependent. i think hes solid, but the fact that he is melee hurts him a bit.

p.s. the only supports that will save caught adcs against non ******s are janna and thresh if he throws a perfectly placed lantern.

You don't think lulu can do that? 40% extra speed + a slow aura + an 80% slow is like made for getting your adc out of a sticky situation. This especially holds true if your timing is good enough to knock up someone mid jump which just screws people over badly

I doubt it'll see much light in competitive matches, because Riot will have to nerf it all to heck in the next patch. It's way overpowered. Tons of people were saying so on the PBE forums, but Riot went ahead and released it just to see what people would do with it. I consider this patch a large scale beta patch before the next group of tournaments start.

I think

the slow aura no longer matters in this patch ifyou hit the 80% slow btw, they took away slow stacking

You understand that
Very much this. If you watch/play DotA, it has the potential to be like an Io bringing Drow off to the side to decimate a teamfight.
