There was a bug, where if a champion was banned in ranked you could still play as them by typing their name into the search bar and hitting enter and locking in. As far as I know it had been fixed.

oh god thats a pretty big bug.
lol at some of those, mostly cho'gath feast bug.
there used to be a bug where sometimes kassadin would survive cho'gaths feast like that, where even though it says 700, if the target has 667 hp then it would actually do 667 damage. which sometimes allowed kass to survive via his passive. long time ago though.

Old news.
People have been abusing this bug for well over a week now.
One theory was that you could randomize and still receive banned champions. It's been letting a lot of people pick Twisted Fate and Annie when they were already banned.
One screenshot even had a team pick TF when they themselves banned Twisted Fate.
Talk about abuse - I ban TF cause you have first pick - DERP, I choose TF.
