Haha seems I'm a rare case since I don't have a problem with this. If this provides me with a game that let's me play when I want instead of crashing and queues, allright.
They stated that they will give you a free transfer if you're unhappy with your new location so I don't see this being such a huge problem.
I suspect at least some people rage without even having looked at the FAQ http://eu.leagueoflegends.com/eu-platform-split-faq
This line especially needs some attention I think
"Why do you have to split the European platform? Why can’t you just add more servers to the existing platform to accommodate the additional demand?
Unfortunately, the issues that we’re running into cannot be solved by simply adding hardware. There are software limitations involved in handling such a massive number of players that only get more difficult to solve as we add more and more hardware to the environment.
For context, this is the reason why most massively multiplayer services shard their playerbase across multiple platforms within a region to keep numbers more manageable and limit reliance on login queues."
Ye, you are rare, you don't have any buddies...
That's the sole reason we are pissed off about.
@ iLunatic, I'm not entirely sure I believe what they're saying anymore. I know for a fact I've played many popular games before that allowed play between not only all of europe, but even worldwide, many of which didn't even have any noticable issues with queues or lag.
Like I said I know nothing about servers, but it just seems like taking the easy way out to me.
I know about the free transfer, but again, no matter what it's going to piss people off - I would be really happy if everyone from mobafire would switch to the western server, but I doubt that will happen, and I'm unwilling to switch to the eastern one myself. Whichever we did, some people would end up unhappy with it.
Then Riot needs to upgrade their software, instead of crippling their community and (I bet) lose a lot of players in the process.
This.
EDIT: Also, there's the competetive scene to consider - one server is bound to end up being the one with the majority of players, competetive teams etc, and players wishing to remain competetive will probably switch to it regardless of location. (No offence to Eastern EU, but I'm assuming it'll be the western server)

Switching to NE is a better idea since we only have 2 majorities playing LoL.
West side has like 4-6 of them, that's going to be insane US of EU.
And i bet 10000 pounds that ping won't change by more than 10-15 if you switch from one to other.

I don't see why I should have to; what if I meet people in future in my own country who play LoL? I'd never be able to play with them without making a new account. Also as I mentioned, what happens if all the good players end up on one server? Obviously, I'd rather be playing on that server. There's also the fact that I would imagine I'm more likely to find people speaking english on the western server.
Lets take S2 for an example here.
They have world wide servers.
Around 15-30k players playing at the same time...
They had some server problems over the last months, mostly becouse of DDOS. But when they did a mistake... Guess what they did? First of all they told uss exactly what happend, it was humiliateing and all that, but atleast they told uss.
Then to comensate uss, not only did they fix the problem, they also unlocked the whole store for all players... And gave every one 2000 silver coins!
ONE skin in hon costs from ca.300-700.
Make that into Ip/rp...
Just shows you who care more about the costumers...

I think, the hacker-attacks will strike again...
I mean, if RIOT doesn't listen, there will be some who want to stop it. This way or that way....
A huge i-net rebellion could start out of this. And then, Riot is screwed. In the game erepublik, some similar things happened after planning to make money, money, money...

Now that I think of it... They just ****ed up Fnatic...
Who cares about Fnatic, they messed us up.
I suspect once the forums are working correctly the number of rage threads are going to be Over 9000.
Who in the hell over at riot thought this was a good idea?
Phreak: "I know how to **** up EU even more so they never beat NA again, lets split em up like in the Cold War"
