Well giving away first blood was a very big no-no but I understand how that could happen, especially against his wicked DoT.
I play Jax more than any other champion and I'm told time and time again he's a great counter to Darius. I just don't see it at all. Darius can poke with
Decimate while as Jax you're stuck with either auto attacking or Leap Strike and Empowering him. I just don't think the kits match up. With Jax if you want to kill or harass you have to go all in, which is where Darius can spin his axe, stack Hemorrhage and then Apprehend when you try to get out. In my opinion he's not a counter, maybe an even lane but not a counter.
(I'm using 21/9/0 as my masteries with typical bruiser runes)

You have to pick your fights with Jax.
Only engage when your Counter Strike is up because it'll cut the damage from Decimate by a bit as well as not allow him to use Crippling Strike.
Jax will win a bit post-6 as well because his ult gives both resists.

People say that because they are all like "oh lolol Jax autoattack immune skill, jax counter everything that not AP(or AD-Caster), lolol" thats just not true, its not like the Skill holds out for the entire Fight, and even "Autoattack"-Champions can use their Abilitys. And also Jax ultimate gives him Armor+Magic Res while Darius ult is a very very strong single target true damage skill, while i lose every single time i face Darius top except if i play Riven and the Enemie isnt doin the same as me*attriation battle ftw* and i aint met him as Jax yet
What Lugi says is accurate. Jax wins early trades against almost every champion because of Counter Strike.
But what you should do is go balls deep at level 1, starting with E. He has literally no way of stacking his passive that early, and you're able to deal a ton of damage WHILE keeping him in your E AoE because Darius has zero mobility.
And sve your Leap Strike until after he uses his pull, because you can easily jump out of his ulti range :P

I am intrested in this matchup, I got told Jax counters Darius top lane, and since I have very little knoweledge of champs that came out when I was taking a break from LoL (Darius and Jayce above all) I belived it, then I got to play as Jax vs Darius and I got raped, I lost our 1st duel by a silver and I could never get back in, I felt so weak compared to him; question is did I do something wrong (other than giving him 1st kill) or my info were wrong and jax does not counter darius?
