Without LoL, they wouldn't have viewers for their stream.
that's a ****ing ridiculous viewpoint. People watch these streamers for more than just league of legends. There are plenty of professional player and very good league of legends players that don't get viewers. The reason they get viewers is because of their personality, the fact that they're entertaining, or other various reasons. It's dumb to think that riot somehow made these streamers

Thanks for the Signature MissMaw!
Alright back to Maximusblack. The guy was a nobody. A black guy in Canada who went to his friend and said "let's try to shout cast some Starcraft, but do something different."
That was 3 years ago and now he streams Starcraft at a professional level everyday while he shout casts Starcraft with his friend. And it worked out because this guy is entertaining. It didn't matter that he wasn't a pro. He has 1000+ viewers everyday. The guy is funny and entertaining. and his friend is equally as funny and entertaining. Put these two side by side and you are set for the next 15 minutes while you watch some bronze and silver league shenanigans.
And there are non pro streamers that get numbers like Dyrus does. For reasons mentioned above. Mainly that people are fans of the person and not the game.

It's a blanket statement. Perhaps it doesn't apply to EVERY LCS streamer. I never once said that a streamer is watched irregardless of personality ;)
My point was, LCS players are not entitled to stream other games when under Riot's payroll. They're welcome to leave LCS and stream what they want.
But they are off the clock when they are streaming. Also "winnings" isn't the same thing as being paid to play. Unless Riot will be giving money to the LCS teams in season 4 for playing in the series something like this shouldn't be restricted.

If you want to play something like Awesomenauts or Hearthstone in your free time. just don't stream it. If you're in Diamond/Challenger and you want to get more money couldn't you instead get a part-time job or something?
For most streamers it isn't about the money. It's about putting on a show for the fans who support the player.

Alternatively if you want to see someone play StarCraft you could watch someone else who streams it instead of watching LoL pros play it.
It would more of a one time thing if anyone played something else. It would be just a quick "how good am I at xxx" thing

Yeah, because it's Dyrus, a pro from the game League of Legends. I'm agreeing with you in the sense that streamers should be able to play what they want. But if they are in a contract with a company that prohibits them from playing a game that is in direct competition with them (DotA, etc whatever), then that's only fair. They signed the contract knowing this information.
Just like people who signed the Steam contract can't sue Steam. For any reason. Ever.
How about a wage to play League of Legends? ^^ That's what Riot is offering in exchange for following a simple rule: we pay you for playing ONLY League of Legends, so don't stream other competitive games. I doubt LCS streamers will lose revenue for limiting their streaming to LoL only ^^
