Need help playing Riven top

If you lost your lane as a result of one or more jungler ganks, chances are you were overextended without sight. Warding the river allows you to push your lane aggressively if need be and can let you zone properly without fear of being ganked. I think that's as much advice as I can give you without seeing the replay.[/quote]

If you prepare for it by runing for some MR and damage, you should be able to E straight into his face when he Qs you and still come out on top. If you're not winning full-on engages, watch for him to use an ability to farm or try to harass. Engaging him with all of your abilities when some of his are on cooldown should make it pretty easy to win trades. Make sure you farm well too, that's rather key. Like SkullzX said, don't forget to use your ultimate. It gives you a significant advantage as long as it's active and also acts as a great finisher. If you expect to go for a kill, make sure you activate your ult before you start engaging him. Don't just pop it for the active, the AD and autoattack range boost helps a lot as well.[/quote]

Maxing E will give you a big shield and leave you with a good amount of damage, but often you'd be better off with the extra burst from W. Winning trades isn't all about mitigation after all, you actually have to deal enough damage in return. But if you are having a difficult lane in which you need the shield to tank his flamespitter damage, you can definitely consider maxing E first. I think for general purposes maxing it second is better. As long as you're not maxing Q first you're probably fine.[/quote]

I was always saving the ult instead of "spamming" it.. And in he Rumble matchup I always try to run away and, as u guys said, he followed me doing lots of dmg. [quote=PsiGuard]I'm a little skeptical about "spamming" your ultimate. It is on a low cooldown for sure, but it's still an ultimate ability. I tend to use it when I think I can get a kill. Using it early just lowers your potential burst until it comes off cooldown. Same reason I wouldn't spam [[Ignite]]. But yeah, I think you've identified your own problem. Just rune some MR and damage and you should be able to trade (without minion aggro) at level 3. Practicing with a friend is a great idea. Keep an eye on who wins trades, especially early ones. Minion aggro is a factor you have to keep in mind as well.[/quote]
