I just played my first Illaoi game and ended up using her as a support. She's not that bad in that role. You can use her E soul ripping ability to deal some harass damage, even though you're a tank. The E isn't as overpowered as people are fearing. It's a skillshot, so yes, you can dodge it. If you don't dodge it, you can choose to attack if your enemies burn their cooldowns fighting your soul (which takes less damage than you would). It's neat, but not overpowered.
I haven't gotten used to how to get the maximum use of the tentacles. They appear automatically every 20 seconds (you see a timer). They seem to have a high AD ratio, but they seem to have a very slow attack speed by themselves. I wonder if attack speed items will affect them. She's being sold as a juggernaut, so I assume the idea is that she gets better with tanky items. I'm not sure yet. But she's definitely fun to play.
Edit: I forgot to say that I noticed that her W can be used on structures, so she can be used to chunk them down a bit.
