While Determinism sounds more like you're stuck in your own set of circumstances because of factors beyond your control. Free will, on the other hand, states that all your circumstances, surroundings, and choices are your choice and can only be decided by you. Both are flawed due to the lack of middle ground that we live in where both are very apparent in daily life. While we do have the free will to rape, kill, and plunder there are existing departments to prevent/limit your actions of such, and not just of taboo or immoral actions. Determinist seems to be more that you're stuck in your life without real control over where it's headed, which sounds more like a state of mind than a way of life, but so does free will to an extent.
