I think you misunderstood the topic bigtime..
"If someone is ****, you point at them and declare "****!". Because this is the internet." - Serpentiferous
"The Internet: where men are men, women are men, and little girls are the FBI." - ???

F.E.A.R had adaptive(NON-SCRIPTED), cooperative AI.
I.e: the AI flanks the player where possible, throws grenades when YOU take cover, they can shoot while fleeing, they can use covering fire, make their own cover from the environment(flips over a table to hide behind among other things), lean out of cover to fire and even use blind-fire. All the while using voice to communicate with each other.
That game is pretty damn impressive, especially since it's 7years old..
It's a great game btw.

the main thing that freaked me out was how scarce ammo was. near the end of the firefight the guy playing had no ammo and pulled the trigger.
the last enemy 'hey i know that sound!' and got out of cover and advanced towards you, he knew you were out of ammo.

Imagine 2 Soldier's talking to each other on their guard duty, being friends n stuff, one turns around and walks a little bit away to take a look at something.
2 Minutes later he returns to his friend, but his friend is nowhere to be found.
Now what Dishonored, Mark of the Ninja and many other stealth games do:
