most melee DPS champs tend to have a distance closer. the fact that cho'gath doesn't have one leaves him unreliable as a DPS champ, at best. AP is fine because you've got three huge nukes, two of them AoE. tank is best because of your CC and health. melee DPS I feel is just lacking.

To be honest, putting a
Malady in there makes his Vorpal Spikes stronger and faster - so playing him as an AP nuke with a Malady might not be a half-bad idea.

if you're relying on vorpal spikes for damage you're really not going to hit too many people in the middle of a fight
cho'gath is very easily kited. most, if not all of the melee DPS champions in the game have either a movement speed buff or a distance closer. cho'gath lacks that. olaf may lack one as well, but his ultimate makes him immune to disables - cho'gath is not. olaf is hard as **** to kill - cho'gath is not if he builds AP/AS.

With rylais, you get a slow before your rupture actually goes off, and your silence slows as well, so if you are doing this I suggest having that in your build somewhere.

i've had 1.4 as and 675 ap, dealing 268 damage with e every 1.4 seconds.
besides that, i've had 34% cdr (nashors and the 9% from masteries), which also deals good damage with q and w and nice cds.
thoughts?
