I'm a support main who likes to play Sona as a main. I've played the Maven through Silver 5 to 3, these last few months have been my first foray into ranked and netted a decent 51/35 win/loss ratio which amounts to 59% (Considering I had the most Dcs and afkers with Sona as I aplyed her almost exclusively through Silver 5-4 I think I must be pretty good with Sona despite the fairly average success rating). I'm going to try out a new set of Masteries on Sona which is currently at 17/0/13 (Weird right?). This set is hopefully going to reduce the impact my current sets have on early gold income and providing for my team without requiring assists or kills to maintain cash flow as much. Well the current Masteries I have are as follows:

I would not recommend going that deep in offense on support Sona at all. Most of the high-tier offensive AP masteries scale mostly with bonus AP. You're not going to get much AP as a support, so you're better off with 9 offense at most and put the rest of the points in utility or defense.

0/9/21 or 0/21/9

I personally run 0/21/9 pretty much all the time on Sona. The only time I don't run 21 in defense on Sona is if im playing against something really passive like a janna support.
Thanks for the Signature MissMaw!

Moon's right - Sona's too squishy to not have at least some points invested in the defense tree. People naturally assume sona's super-squishy, so having extra points in the defense tree allows you to better take advantage of your opponents' presumptuousness, and force them to overcommit in unfavorable trades
