Trinity Force is best as one of your only sources of damage on tanky champions, or as a mid game power house on ranged carry champions.

I think the variety of stats that Trinity Force provides are best used on a few select champions, but strong on a majority of champs. Trundle comes to mind. He can make use of EVERY stat it has to offer. Lee Sin on the other hand makes use of most of them while just wasting the mana portion.
