I know alot of people like this certain build for Nidalee, which I think most of us know is the bruiser/atmogs build. Now I always see builds for it, and people say how much they love it, but I really need to know why.

Every single AD/Offtank Nidalee I've ever seen never ever reached 7 kills, and most didn't go positive. Also I can usually easily defeat one with anybody unless I'm a defenseless champ like a weak support or mage without mana.

What I really want to know is, what are the actual pros of AD Nidalee. If I'm totally honest, and this may seem biased, but I don't see a real reason for it, all of her abilities use AP except for except for her Takedown(Cougar-Form Q).I also read something saying AD Nidalee's real damage comes in when she gets Cougar. How is this considering all her cougar abilities use AP except Q?

I really need a reason to consider this build, because some guy even got mad at me for using her AP and not AD, and I ended up carrying that game.
Thanks to Rys Aberdeen, Jhoijhoi, The_Nameless_Bard, Arcana3, and Miss Maw for the sigs!

I'd figure it has to do with the fact that she can have 3.5k HP, 200 resists, and still deal 900 on pounce when the enemy is low enough. That's crazy.

EDIT: Wow, and now doing some quick DPS calcs for a level 6 combo...I want to try AD Nid!

Because AP Nid is generally too squishy to ever make proper use of her cougar form, she can't really jump in teamfights or she'll instantly die. You play AP Nidalee for the poke and heals, you play bruiser Nidalee for a more tanky, sustained damage role

AP is much easier to use (just point and Q), but since her heal nerf everyone pretty much gave up on AP Nid and switched to tanky bruiser AD. AD builds have more sustained and reliable damage output as opposed to the occasional hard-hitting poke. They're also tanky, can be ranged for harass/kiting or melee for huge damage burst and a Q that's like a Garen ultimate. Not to mention AD Nid's laning phase gives free health sustain (wriggle's) and she's a great top laner thanks to her near immunity to ganks. AP Nid runs out of health and mana far more easily without blue buff.

The bottom line is that AD Nid is harder to play than AP. Where AP Nid's damage is very straightforward and simple to execute (even if it's hard to land sometimes), AD Nid requires a lot more boldness, good judgment and smart gameplay to make the most out of your damage potential. Bad AD Nids either do squat damage or Cougar in and die before they can kill their target.

Don't be fooled by the players you've seen. If you've only seen AD Nids do badly, you've only seen bad players. Take a look at some high level games and you'll see she's far more viable than she seems.
Thanks to Hoppermh for the sig!

^ and that she's hard to place in a team comp currently.
At top she's easily counterpicked, and she doesn't beat that many champs.
At mid she doesn't provide enough damage for the caster role. All she does is poke.

A duo-AP comp in top and mid might make her more viable, but why pick her if there are tons of better champs out there?

hmm I disagree. She's actually a very strong solo top pick. As far as champions go that probably have an advantage over her in lane I'd say only Tryndamere, Akali and maybe Vladimir. She also straight up beats popular picks like Riven and Gangplank. She's a pretty solid pick imo

I don't understand why people that play AP don't know how to get defensive items... She is much squishier maybe because you aren't giving her the same kind of defensive stats. I can't make myself play AD Nid. I always build every champion I play at least a little defensive specifically because I don't think that dying is a much more appealing route to take than dealing a little less damage.

The simplest way to put it, I have learned (as much a team game that this is) to not rely on people too much. Your tank isn't always going to CC the right person, the person that has you at the end of their rampaging tunnel vision. You need to be able to survive that in case of such mistakes.

The main reason not to pick her is because she has no CC which is the biggest determining factor in this game, as I have noticed a lot. I must say though that she has the capability to fulfill more roles at one time than most anybody else.

Not so sure about this.
Haven't played AP Nid in a while, but I'm pretty sure that's not true.

By building her tanky AP, you're either gonna be really tanky and do a lot less consistent damage, or you're gonna be a big tanky and still not have the capability to go in fights.

If you're building her tanky, there's no reason to go AP over AD, because you'll have a lot more damage output / tankiness and a better and smoother lane phase / transition. Also, tanky items generally work better with AD champs, because there are a lot of items that give both resists and damage.

I have way too much to say on the matter. The best I can say to sum it up is that she has one ability (JUST ONE) that scales with AD. Why do you want to completely drop the rest of her damage potential because you don't want to use the defensive items that are made for AP?

I fail to see how AD makes laning better, especially considering the fact that the ONLY ability she has that scales with AD she can't even use until level 6.

Now, I could understand playing her Hybrid (I often do), but AD is hurting her more than it helps. Yes, I have tried.

Better to do a little less damage and stay alive than have the ability to do a lot of damage, but never actually live long enough to do it. That's all that really matters. However you feel that you do it better...
