Support Ryze?

ryze has a good snare which can hit multiple people if he ults. he also doesn't NEED rabadons or other big items to scale, he can be content with some mana.

so i want to know how plausible ryze support is and what should i be building. i want to get a mana crystal so i can use my limited gold to get a tear right away but would it be better to start with one of the new support items.

Well there is no reason to pick him instead of annie. She has short spell range but aoe stun not single target snare. And if annie is picked go tanky with cc heavy Leona or Thresh.

He said it. And I'm somewhat obliged to elaborate because of the previous answer I made in similar thread.

Here's how it goes. There are problems with his kit, no utility and the only CC he brings is a snare, not to mention its mediocre range, his ult can't compete with anyone as well. The biggest problem would be his suckazz early, just like the ADC you wanna babysit. While it's true he deals damage based on mana, you really can't afford it early on, ward is a must, by the time you can fully stack tear, it would be 30 min + already. There could be more but this is all that matters to me.
