"It's needed when your allies are mostly building glass-cannon builds.
It's a good item to have for team fights.
Supports can buy it, but tanks can too. Just depends on who can flex their build more."

he's very versatile, and just needs wads of ap work. what kind of ap items depends on your experience as a player, there's no set path.
