"The Bloodthirster's a little situational, it's just nice to have some more damage and LS at the end of the build. You could easily swap it for a Maw, Atma's or GA."

There are a lot of ways to build him though. Generally you just get a few DPS items (usually ones with some survivability, like Phage and Wit's End) and then try to balance survivability."
