Watching LCS games and lots of guides on how to be better at the game, if I had three pieces of advise for someone just starting out with ranked or someone toiling in Bronze/Silver like me they would be this:
1. Don’t die.
2. Don’t go places where you don’t have vision.
3. Keep an eye on the mini-map.
Every death is time you aren’t on the map earning gold, XP, or countering the other teams attempts to take objectives.
Treat every bush like it is a death trap with however many members of the enemy team you can’t see sitting in it waiting to ambush you. (I still screw this up from time to time). Support sad face. “But I just wanted to place a ward.”
I don’t know how many turrets have been lost because my teams have been bloodlusting over a run up mid. Getting turrets it is good. Sometimes even trading a turret is okay. But if you are trading an Inner turret for an Outer turret that is almost always a bad trade. You will almost never see this happen in an LCS game unless one team miscalculated badly.

Good point. There are ways to minimize your risks when going into territory where you don't have vision.
1. Get a
2. Use ranged skill shots on bushes as you mention
3. travel in pair or packs while warding
One of my main beefs around this in Bronze/Silver is sieging without having your flanks warded. When I'm playing ADC that ***** gives me the heebie jebbies. My squishy butt puckers thinking about all the the things that might be lurking off to the sides which makes it hard to concentrate on poking and doing other things centered around taking the objective we are trying to take.
Part of peeling is making sure you see anything coming before you ever have to peel which is why
