It's capped :P Caps at 750 bonus mana, at which point it stops working. Either way, the stats you get from Seraph's Embrace or Muramana far outweigh that punny additional HP regen you might hypothetically get from
Strength of Spirit
, even if you had 6000 bonus mana xD
So, a fully developed Tear of the Goddess grants you 1750 additional mana, then?
(+250 for the item, +750 for the +4 mana per spell cast or mana expenditure, +750 for the passive +1 mana per 8 seconds)

However, there is a pretty neat (although completely useless) think about that passive: It stacks. So if you have 6 Tear of the Goddesss, you get +6 mana per 8 seconds.
The +4 mana per cast, however, does not stack. So the fastest method of charging a Tear of the Goddess is with an Archangel's Staff and 5x Tear of the Goddess. Obviously that's a very big waste of gold and completely impractical, but, well, there you go. If you ever wanted to get 5x Seraph's Embrace and 1x Muramana on Ryze in a custom game, now you can do it a little bit faster...

So, I was looking at the item Tear of the Goddess, since it's in my build for quite a few champions I use, and I noticed the passive max mana gain per 8 seconds. It doesn't say on the item, so I was wondering, is this capped? Or is the passive max mana gain infinite? I always build this into an Archangel's Staff or Manamune so I never even noticed that I was passively gaining that mana for a short period, and that when I upgraded to Seraph's Embrace or Muramana, it stopped.
Also, that brings me to another thing -- I have Strength of Spirit , because of the good sustain it gives me for midmages ( Lissandra, for example), and That got me thinking about just keeping an un-upgraded Tear of the Goddess -- what would that amount to? Would the game ever last long enough for the mana gain to show a considerable increase in HP regeneration?
I guess what I have pictured in my head is a mid-laner carrying one of these for the entire game and coming out of teamfights recharging to full health in less than 30 seconds. While that's outlandish, surely some champion could exploit this, right?
