Nice! :3

If you don't mind, I'd like to throw in a little bit of general advice that I think you might find useful (it certainly helped me, and I know the struggles of being a support main >_<):

The person who helped me climb told me that support is probably the hardest role to play in the game. Part of it is (I always forget the name) because people expect you to be the only one who wards/CCs/peels, and only ever notice if you don't. They rarely even realize that it is mostly to the credit of the support that the ADC didn't die in the teamfight, or that we only knew that the enemy was starting Baron because of a previously placed ward. However, while that is a part of it, support is the hardest to play because it is your job to make plays. And consistently while you're at it.

I quote directly from him, "It is the support's job to make the game as easy as possible for the other people on the team." This means setting up scenarios for your team to literally just pick up kills as if they were money found on the sidewalk. You have to CC the right targets, take advantage of enemy mistakes, heal/shield/peel to the point where you are essentially making the enemy team useless (exaggerating a bit, lol). Supports have a huge impact on the game simply because they are the people who make it as straightforward for the team to win as possible.

The reason why I brought this up is because I was looking through your match history on Op.gg, and I noticed that your overall kill participation was pretty low, even in games that you ended up winning. Generally, you're hitting about 40-50% (with the exception of the Janna game), but many high elo support mains are easily hitting 70-80% kill participation. This is because they are the reason for nearly every single kill in the game. For example, if you search up the guy I screenshotted and open up his ranked games, whoever is the support will have the highest/one of the highest kill paricipations in 99% of them.

Just my two cents on the topic, because I feel like improving this one aspect will help you out a lot in terms of climbing.
Thanks to Janitsu for the sig!

Mostly it's related to a habit of staying bot so my carry doesn't die or complain at me vs roaming like I should when the lane is already lost. I roam when winning usually though. For example, I died once to save Vayne in lane as Bard. Gave her the BotD about her terrible positioning and map awareness and led my enemies on a merry chase, after that she died a few more times despite me pinging and stunning enemies, so I left her alone and helped other lanes because it was pointless to continue being there. Shoulda left earlier, staying was entirely on me and I admit that. It didn't fix the lane being lost besides maybe letting her kinda catch up on CS because I could zone Graves while Leona mostly didn't do anything despite being there. Nick was bot lane with me in the Janna game, so I actually felt I could leave when he reminded me I could. You can kinda see that habit of mine looking at the league match history when you glance at the general stats. It's a poor habit but I'm getting better about it.

So, lately I'm not really playing much ranked on my main (mostly on an account that was given to me instead). I can post some of the games I have been playing though if people are interested.

My experiences so far (eight games) have mainly made me determine that:
  • Most of the differences between Gold and Silver seem to be purely mechanical. The decision making is often just as bad on both sides, though the opposing team is usually more able to punish mistakes because they actually recognize them and know how to capitalize on them. It's nice to see (mostly) people who can actually last hit.
  • It's much easier to predict the actions of people who are consistent. The only consistency in Silver is that pretty much everyone is bad, but you have no way of knowing what people will do, because they regularly don't do things that should work out or what they should be doing (e.g. taking a dragon instead of pushing to win, then losing the very same game 5-10 minutes later because they had one bad teamfight due to getting cocky). It feels easier to predict movement in lane, as well, since the ADCs don't move so erratically while they don't CS properly the way they do in Silver.
  • I've GOT to practice last hitting more than I already was and I've got to iron out a non-support roster. I let someone take support with their duo partner (after playing against them) and went top lane last night. It was rough and I 100% got carried to victory by basically being a support with AP items and about 100 less CS than I should have had. Sucked royal balls.

If anyone wants to comment or correct my determinations, that's fine, I'm just posting my general thoughts.

Reverse Smurfing - Games 17, 18, & 19

Things I should do
  • Play Karma, I guess. I'd been avoiding her because I wasn't feeling confident enough to pick her, but in that loss forgiven I said "**** it" and picked her anyways. We didn't actually win, but I did significantly more to help us nearly win than I have in most of the games I've played so far. Unfortunately the Server Gods were not on our side and we suffered the only disconnects in the game.
  • Work on last hitting outside of these games and iron out a real roster I feel like I can play that isn't support and jungle.
  • dodge once in a while, losing 3 LP > losing 15 LP and just wasting a **** ton of time
Things I should not do:
  • Play solo lanes (in this case, mid lane), dear god I need to learn when to just dodge
  • Second guess champions I know I can play and play **** I'm even less confident with
Other ****
  • Shoulda stopped after the first game where people were disconnecting left and right (hence the loss forgiven in the last game, I'm sure), but I really wanted to win one. The last game was really close too, sadness.

Since this is me trying to learn (in my own screwed up way, I suppose), any comments/suggestions/ect anyone can offer would be great.

Reverse Smurfing - Game 24
Things I should do
  • Stay pretty chill, which I somehow managed in this game once it started. Nami is still a definite comfort pick for me and I seemed to do some good work with her.
  • Make sure my vision control is up to snuff, wasn't good enough in this game.
  • Continue to work on my roaming. It was much better in this game than average, but that's not good enough.
Things I should not do:
  • Freak out because I feel like my champion pick was a terrible idea before the game even started
  • Not commit to things. At least two of my deaths were a result of not committing to fights we probably could have won, but I pussied out and that caused us to lose them.
  • Continue to be so ****ing passive in lane, dear lord. If I'd actually taken advantage of Alistar's habit of just burning his CC and taking half his health for the hell of it, we might have actually won the lane. Instead I just harassed them, but didn't actually initiate many fights for god knows what reason.
Other ****
  • 25 LP and three away from my promos, I'll take it.
