Alright, what do you think of The Big Lebowskie, Searz? Cult classic that everyone loves these days, but it got terrible reviews when it premiered. The fact that it spawned a religion of sorts is kinda cool.

Searz was gonna write something bad about it, but is unable to now since he died.

Cause of death: He ****ed with the Jesus.

Also, I think the levels of immorality in this thread are astounding. You'd really throw a child off a boat for your own luggage? Wow.

It's been a while since I saw it, so I won't be doing a formal review of it.
I thought it was pretty meh. Unique and kind of interesting, but it just doesn't do much.
The characters can't carry a lacking story on their backs alone.
You do realize that Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness were mostly intended to be comedy, right?

I've seen Army of Darkness. It was just bad, plain and simple. Campy, cheesy and stupid, and that's not always a winning combination.

If I had to name a decent enough horror movie I'd go for Saw (the first one, the sequels kinda lost the original touch). With that low of a budget, making a film like that was amazing.

Anyway, what do you think about Requiem For A Dream? I watched the movie yesterday and I am certainly not going to watch it again... not because it was bad, but because it was kind of intense...

Oh yeah, I have vague memories of Saw being pretty good. Been years tho.

I have not seen Requiem For A Dream. I will be watching it soon though.

Saw 1 was pretty good imo because it didn't sell itself out to only being gore focused like all the sequels. Saw 1 was trying to be reserved, whereas most of its sequels were just going straight for the gore to stay relevant and have people attracted to the series.

I was talking to BBG when I said that, because he sort of acted like he thought it was intended to be a horror film and was comparing it to the ED remake, when it obviously was intended to be cheesy and stupid. I agree it was bad, but that was sort of the point.

Yeah, the sequels were kinda down in quality. Don't get me wrong, I still loved them, but the thing that kept me going was the story, it really gives you something to think about...

I don't know the movie but it sounds rather edgy :^)

More on topic, can I ask the hard-hitting questions? What's the best movie you've ever watched? What's the movie of this year anyone should at least know about?

I've posted about that in the Manga thread. A comparison of the manga called All You Need is Kill, which was based on the same novel(by the same name) as Edge of Tomorrow.
All You Need is Kill is really mediocre. Lots of issues with the storyline.
The Edge of Tomorrow luckily only adapts the concept though, the story itself is entirely different. And it delivers on every failing part of the original, fantastic movie.

I'll do a proper review of it, just gimme some time to pair it up with a few Tom Cruise movies.

Ooooh, hard to say. Edge of Tomorrow is actually a contender for that title, but I think the title goes to Nightcrawler. AMAZING movie. It just blew me away.

Best movie of the year will be the upcoming review after the Cruise special :)
I'm gonna watch A.I. so that I have a relevant movie to pair the review with. Which might hint as to which movie it is ;)
