Lately I've found myself playing lower and lower meta-tier champions and finding them surprisingly viable, I haven't played Mundo yet today but pre-update he was a great jungler and quickly became one of my favorite picks even if he's not really favored this meta. It made me curious, so what champions that aren't very popular in this meta do you love and why do you think it works well in this meta vs. why it isn't picked?

This season is full of viable picks though. The game was on its closest to perfectly balanced before the juggernaut changes, and their disruption is already fading away with nerfs to everyone except for morde (he's complicated). So yeah, lots of previously unseen stuff becoming viable is good.

I'd say support Malphite and jungle Fizz are my top out of meta picks right now. I did some jungle Galio and top lane Taric some time ago, but those two suck too hard against some team comps.

Also, shout out to jungle/top Karma. I suck at her but I've seen it work really well.

Dr. Mundo top lane, except after this buff, I feel like he'll become a VERY viable and in-meta pick and if he doesn't make it into top 5 best Top Laners for 5.20, I feel like he'll be AT LEAST an honorable mention. I just tried it in one game and his damage was completely ridiculous. The auto-attack reset allows you to squeeze in damage and that 25 more range is SO good when chasing. Just build a Titanic Hydra, Spirit Visage and Warmog's Armor and it's pretty much game for the other team (so to speak).

I've been playing a lot of zyra mid though. I'm convinced that she is really good.

Zyra is definitely good. She's a hypercarry who can put out an amazing amount of aoe damage. I frequently top the damage dealt to champions chart even when I play her support if the game goes 35+ minutes.

However, you do have to play around her weaknesses -- primarily her lack of mobility. In lane, you want to play cautiously and not push the lane, because if Zyra goes out too far, she's really easy to gank. Also, her snare, contrary to popular belief, doesn't last very long -- only .75 seconds at rank 1 and only 1.75 seconds at rank 5. I personally like to get a Rylai's Crystal Scepter somewhere in the middle of my build so that my ult, Q, and long range (Q) plants can slow the enemy and give Zyra some ability to kite or get away.

i do like getting rylais, but i usually get it really late. I'm running 9 points in utility for biscuits and stuff and my build gives me some extra ms. I usually just waveclear with q+plant over and over again while trying to harass where i can.

just played that one. it's a bit of a strange build, I do basically the same thing with lux when i play her. farm and then push lane to back for tear. ludens, boots/archangels. from there i usually go rabadons and then void but they didn't have an mr this game so i never got void, and you can adjust it at that point (or before if you have to, like zhonyas instead of ludens).

Once i get ludens, my q will one shot the casters(with proc), i drop a plant there and work on the melees, or zone the enemy off. ludens+archangels seems to be a good 2 item powerspike on a few different long range mages. I hardly ever have to go back because of tear, I'm staying at range and just using spells and yet i still have a lot of control of the fight. If they even get to me i have heal, flash, and seraphs and e if it's up.

In that game i had 900 ap without sorc elixer or baron (1st drag buff though), i literally 2 shot that lb with e and q.

Void Staff will do more damage than Rabadon's Deathcap on Zyra even if the enemy doesn't build any MR. I've run the numbers on enemies with 50 MR, and by getting Void Staff, Sorcerer's Shoes, and Liandry's Torment, you're doing basically true damage. The Void Staff multiplies the base damage, the damage from the Liandry's Torment passive, and damage from AP while Rabadon's Deathcap only multiplies the damage from AP.

The main problem with your build that I see is the lack of CDR, which I think is crucial on Zyra. Obviously Zyra's W gives her 10% CDR when maxed, and you can get another 5% easily from masteries. How much CDR do you run on your runes?

If you want to have fun as Zyra support then just run full AP and MP runes :) So much fun if you can play safe ;)
