Buying wards is annoying, even if you know it's cost-effective. Same goes for potions in the jungle and support items. Dying when you're exactly at the amount of money needed to finish your first big item and not being able to buy it because you have to spend 200 gold in wards+potions is both counterintuitive and feels worse than just not having enough money for the big item.

Hence this changes aim at releasing that tension. By letting everyone have free wards, you still have the ward war, only that everyone can participate without slowing their build path. The change goes in the same line as the refillable jungle potion and the combined support/ward items (but you can still have nice synergy by getting red sightstone plus the upped supp items if you feel like it, because versatility).

By wanting the "free timer" on dragon/baron to go away, or revert this changes you don't want the game to be harder, you just want pointless "abilities" you polished to still be useful. But reminding to take note of the dragon timer is just that, a pointless ability that only takes time away from deeper mechanical skills that aren't going away. Same goes to forcing people to buy wards instead of items. I very well know that's what I have to do, but I would never do it in a game where I want to have fun, because buying wards is annoying, and placing them correctly and at the right time is what takes skill (and that skill wasn't taken away, but much on the contrair, now everybody has to learn that skill).

On a side note I really hope the people complaining about this aren't the same ones that complained about "everyone getting skillshots" back after ryze's rework, or that would be massively hypocritical :^)

I've actually experienced the new vision system in a few dozen games now, and it works just fine. Please read my post in the other thread to see how it works. There's a lot of skill and gamesmanship in placing blue wards and being selective with where people put their vision wards and their few Stealth Wards. I personally like not having to spend lots of money on wards or upgrading them -- and for that matter I like how much more gold you get in the game overall. You can get to your "end game item fantasy" quicker this way.

Babying the league community. This is why (along with this terrible community) why LoL is a joke on the esports scene amongst Daddy DoTA and grandpa SC2.

Honestly, as a person who has mostly played support through every season of the game, I really lament that I can no longer just buy a **** ton of wards plus an oracle's elixir and ward the damn map myself. Sure, you didn't have a lot of gold and it felt pretty thankless, but at least then you could make sure there was sufficient vision yourself without being forced to rely on other people.

Honestly, as a person who has mostly played support through every season of the game, I really lament that I can no longer just buy a **** ton of wards plus an oracle's elixir and ward the damn map myself. It was way easier to climb when I didn't have to rely on my allies to have more than three stealth wards and a vision ward on the map.

Seriously? I've played maybe 50% support since season 3, and I've loved being able to buy interesting items and be worth more than about a half champion in fights past 25 minutes into the game. Sightstone, support gold generation items, and new items designed for supports have been fantastic upgrades for supports. Season 6 continues this by having much higher gold generation overall and specifically for support items and relieves supports of even more ward gold sink. I love it. The vision game is still an important mini-game that will still go on. It just won't cost so much gold to play it.

By the way, if you get the blue trinket, technically you can light up the map yourself by putting out permanent visible wards every 60 seconds. Of course, you have to be thoughtful about dropping them into bushes that are both useful and less likely to have the enemies check.

I've played probably 70-90% support since season one. I indeed miss the days when I could just make sure there was enough vision myself because then I didn't have to worry about it. Also, making vision really cheap won't fix the issue of low Elo players simply not warding because they don't think vision control is important.

I disagree. Most low level forget to ward simply because they dont wanna spend gold. Some also dont grasp the complexity of warding and dewarding well, partially due to lack of exposure. They do usually use trinket wards. By focusing on the trinkets to ward, lower level players should be able to learn the ward game easier. I personally like the changes for that reason alone. I also agree with the sentiment about giving supports dynamic item choices greatly improving my mood when playing support and it should be even more fun this season.

I think Nameless is right. Low elo players don't even use their trinkets much. I was looking at recent stats of players in bronze compared to gold, and there was an average ward different of 70 wards placed in the game when the game time was the same, and when no one bought wards. Bronze players never use their trinkets and this is especially true for ADC's, even if they are not bronze ELO (but in their defense they do get Scrying Orb in the mid game.)

Likely because rank 1 trinket sucks. Id say most lowbies understand why warding is important but often feel their attempts at it are fruitless. Ive been in low gold or silver my entire time in league and i play my fair share of support too. I dont know what back woods rejects youre playing with but i never see the dumb *** behavior you speak of. I think you all just wanna assume all lowbies are idiodic. They arent, just learning still.
