That system really feels of something to keep the rubes interested in playing. Where more playing = more chance of buying something. Oh I've mastered X, I really should have a skin for them! And of course the BM mastery spam. Love that bit of sportsmanship. (though it can be funny in the right circumstances).

Yeah it's why I'm not impressed with people who have mastery on a champion since most of them prove they don't have mastery in game. It really is just a hollow symbol to fuel those who easily develop superiority complexes in game.
I don't know what Riot was thinking when they decided to give players another emote during their war against toxicity. They must've been wearing some thick rose-colored glasses about the idea that people wouldn't spam it to be BM.
My favorite time to spam mastery though is after a dumb mistake that gets me killed. At least I can try to be funny then.
