They adhere to the community all the time. Dominion, even at it's peak was never a very large portion of the community. Why should they have ever wasted resources on it when it was doomed from launch?
Edit: Treeline and ARAM only hold bigger numbers because they more or less follow the same premise as SR. Riot doesn't have to make seperate balance changes for them as much as they would have for Dominion.

Over 100 competitive tournaments each with roughly 80+ people playing consistently seems to disagree, not to mention routinely there was a capped chatroom with 200 people in it every day and a very vocal and active community on the forums.
4 of my friends and I tried Dominion for the first time yesterday after 5 minutes of me pestering them that we should at least try it before it goes away for good. We played and had a wonderful time. It was the most fun we actually had in league in a while. Even losing was intense and fun (which was what we did for the first 3 games). We are definitely going to be sad that it will be going, but we hope that riot will at least bring it back for at least one week per year. It would be fun to be able to play it again. Maybe if we started earlier, achieving the 100 wins before the deadline would be possible, but now it is technically impossible. Also, from what I have seen about wait times for the game, the wait times we went through are a lot shorter. More people are probably playing because it will be history soon, so I guess give it a go now before it is gone. 1 try, and if you don't like it don't force yourself to try again.

I actually like the Dominion capture the resource type game mode. However, it didn't have a ranked mode, so I felt like I was always playing in normals where a good portion of people were just messing around. I would've loved a more competitive environment for the mode.
:/ Should have known something like this was coming, seeing as OCE doesn't even have a Dominion queue or even Dominion map in customs. I'm actually sad I'll never play Dominion again.

You're not wrong, but neither is OTG. Everything you just described was still just a very tiny minority of the League playerbase.

Multiple times Riot made changes without bothering to look at what the community thought and without even testing whether it worked properly or not.
Dominion in fact even had a bug where you could dodge games with no penalty for over a year, which completely and totally killed draft dominion, pretty much even now.
Riot's attempts at balancing dominion have pretty much been ****, and I guess they finally admitted they couldn't possibly care less about it.
Would have been nice if they had done that years ago, rather than saying "oh yeah guys, we know we're not doing anything for dominion right now, but ranked queues will be coming and i promise changes are in store!!!"
Riot never has and never will care about what the community thinks or what the community wants.
